Josh Harrison News

Nationals Re-Sign Josh Harrison

The Washington Nationals re-signed utilityman Josh Harrison to a one-year, $1 million deal on Thursday. Harrison was released by the Phillies in July and latched on with the Nats, hitting .278 with two doubles, three home runs, 14 RBI, six walks and 11 runs scored for Washington. The 33-year-old can make an extra $250,000 in performance bonuses tied to plate appearances in 2021. The two-time All-Star doesn't carry much fantasy appeal at this point in his career, but he's useful in NL-only leagues for his positional versatility, as he's started games at second base, third base, shortstop, designated hitter and both corner outfield spots in his 10-year career. He has a .273 career batting average, but he hit just .175 with a home run in 36 games for Detroit in 2019.

Josh Harrison Released by Tigers

Detroit Tigers second baseman Josh Harrison has been released by the organization on Friday. He hit .176/.219/.265 over 36 games with Detroit, so not exactly elite numbers. He's been sidelined since May due to hamstring surgery, but appears ready to play after recent rehab work. He could land on a contending team, but it's unclear how much playing time he'd see. Harrison should be left on the waiver wire in all formats.

Josh Harrison Suffers Setback

Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said that second baseman Josh Harrison (hamstring) suffered a setback and felt tightness in his hamstring again, possibly the breaking up of scar tissue. There remains no set timetable for Harrison to restart his rehab assignment. Harrison needed surgery on his hamstring, so don't expect him to return anytime soon. Fantasy owners should've forgotten about the 32-year-old a while ago, as he's hit an embarrassing .176/.219/.265 with only one homer, 10 runs, eight RBI and four steals before his injury. He's been out since May 27.
