Josh Harrison Inks Minors Deal With Reds

The Cincinnati Reds have signed free-agent infielder Josh Harrison to a minor-league deal that presumably includes an invitation to big-league spring training. The 36-year-old spent the 2023 season with the Phillies, hitting just .204 with two homers before being cut loose after just 41 appearances. He briefly latched on with the Rangers but hit just .222 with one homer in six games at the Triple-A level before being released in late August. All told, Harrison is a career .270 hitter with 73 HR, 91 stolen bases, and a tiny 15.2% BB% across 1,209 games with the Pirates, Tigers, Nationals, A's, White Sox, and Phillies. He will be hard-pressed to get many reps with the Reds given their glut of impressive young infielders.

Josh Harrison Signs Minor-League Deal With Rangers

The Texas Rangers signed free-agent infielder/outfielder Josh Harrison to a minor-league deal on Tuesday. Harrison hit just .204/.263/.291 with two home runs, three doubles, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in 40 games for the Philadelphia Phillies this year before they released him earlier this month. The 36-year-old veteran can pretty much play all around the infield, so he'll give Texas some infield depth moving forward with starting third baseman Josh Jung (thumb) sidelined. The two-time All-Star will begin in the minors for now but could resurface in the big leagues for Texas next month when rosters expand. Harrison remains off the fantasy radar.

Phillies Place Josh Harrison On 10-Day Injured List

The Philadelphia Phillies placed infielder Josh Harrison (wrist) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 9) on Wednesday with a right-wrist contusion. A corresponding roster move will be made prior to Friday's series opener against the San Diego Padres to fill Harrison's spot on the 26-man active roster. The 36-year-old veteran infielder was scratched from the team's starting lineup for the last game of the first half of the season on Sunday, and he won't be available for the Phils to start the second half of the year this weekend against San Diego. Harrison has been a non-entity in fantasy this season, hitting just .219 (21-for-96) with two homers, 10 RBI and eight runs scored in 38 games as a bench player for the Phils.

Josh Harrison Scratched On Sunday

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Josh Harrison (wrist) was scratched on Sunday with a sore right wrist. The veteran utilityman initially hurt his wrist on a slide during Saturday's game and is still feeling it on Sunday. He is available to come off the bench, if necessary, but Brandon Marsh will now be starting in left field while Cristian Pache switches over to center.

Josh Harrison Signs With the Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies and infielder Josh Harrison agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal. Harrison was one of the few remaining infielders left in free agency, and he is expected to make an impact in Philly. The 35-year-old spent his 2022 campaign with the Chicago White Sox and slashed .256/.317/.370 with a .687 OPS and 27 RBI. This was a slight drop off from 2021, when he amassed a 10 OPS+, but Harrison continues to utilize his bat despite his high age. He spent most of the season at second base but also saw considerable reps at third. The Phillies will likely platoon Harrison in the infield and hope his bat contributes. He is mainly an option in deep-league and NL-Only formats.

Red Sox Eyeing Adam Duvall, Josh Harrison

The Boston Red Sox have free-agent outfielders Adam Duvall and Josh Harrison on their radar, among others. With Xander Bogaerts out of town and Trevor Story (elbow) injured, shortstop is a big need for 2023 as well. Among the available free agents at the position are Elvis Andrus, Jose Iglesias and Andrelton Simmons. Duvall could be a perfect fit for the Red Sox, who view him as a capable center fielder. The 34-year-old had wrist surgery in 2022 and hit .213/.276/.401 with 12 home runs and 36 RBI in 86 games for the Atlanta Braves. Better health and a spot in Boston's everyday lineup would make Duvall a potential bounce-back slugger. Harrison can also play multiple infield spots but isn't nearly as attractive as Duvall in fantasy. He hit .256 with seven homers, 27 RBI and two steals in 119 games for the White Sox last year.

White Sox Decline Josh Harrison's 2023 Club Option

The Chicago White Sox declined veteran second/third baseman Josh Harrison's $5.5 million club option for 2023 Monday, per MLB's Scott Merkin. The option includes a $1.5 million buyout. The 35-year-old put up decent numbers with the White Sox in 2022 while providing a clubhouse presence, slashing .256/.317/.370 with seven home runs and 27 RBI in 425 plate appearances. His veteran leadership and defensive versatility may help him find a new landing spot for 2023.

Josh Harrison Exits Early After HBP

Chicago White Sox infielder Josh Harrison (elbow) was removed from Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles after being hit by a pitch in the elbow in the fifth inning. He went 0-for-1 with a strikeout before leaving. The 34-year-old seemed in considerable pain and initially stayed in the game. Lenyn Sosa eventually replaced him at second base. The veteran utility player hasn't been productive this season, hitting .215 with a homer and nine RBI over 48 games in 2022. Harrison is considered day-to-day, and more information will be known about his injury after the game.

Josh Harrison Hoping To Play Saturday

Chicago White Sox infielder Josh Harrison (shoulder) is hoping to be able to return to the lineup against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday. Harrison left during Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians last Wednesday thanks to a sore shoulder. He has been getting treatment on the injured shoulder since the injury in an attempt to get back onto the field. Harrison is hitting just .107 with three runs and one RBI across 28 at-bats in 2022. Leury Garcia has been handling second base duties with Harrison on the bench.

Josh Harrison Leaves Game With Shoulder Injury

Chicago White Sox infielder Josh Harrison (shoulder) left the second game of the doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday with a right shoulder injury. Harrison might have suffered the injury while making a catch in left field, and he went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before leaving the game. The White Sox are evaluating him further, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until we know more. The 34-year-old utility man is off to a rough start in 2022, as he has only three hits, no home runs, one RBI and three runs scored in his first 29 plate appearances of the season. There's a good chance that Harrison will need to miss at least a day or two.
