Juan Soto Still on Track to Return Next Week

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (calf) is progressing with his baseball activities and is "still on track" to return from the 10-day injured list next week, but the Mets will want to do a supplemental MRI exam to ensure that Soto is OK before activating him, according to Laura Albanese of Newsday. Soto landed on the IL with a right-calf strain, but he's made good progress and could be back for fantasy managers at some point next week. The Mets have really struggled mightily offensively without the 27-year-old four-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger winner, as they currently rank second-to-last in baseball with a .617 team OPS. In his first 31 at-bats before going on the IL, Soto was hitting a cool .355 (11-for-31) with a homer, five RBI, and three runs scored. Obviously, fantasy managers everywhere will want to get Soto back into their starting lineups immediately next week when he's reinstated.

Mets Hoping for Juan Soto to Return During Team's Next Homestand

New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said, "that's the goal," when asked by reporters whether outfielder Juan Soto (calf) would return during the team's next home stand. The Mets finish up their current road trip this weekend in Chicago before returning home next Tuesday for a three-game set against the Minnesota Twins. Soto is currently on the 10-day injured list as he recovers from a calf strain that he suffered on April 3. Across 34 plate appearances before getting hurt, the 27-year-old hit .355/.412/.516 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs scored. Once he's back in the lineup, Soto immediately profiles as a must-start fantasy outfielder. However, fantasy managers may want to prepare for limited aggressiveness on the base paths with Soto returning from a leg ailment. Soto was one of the more surprising sources of speed for fantasy managers in 2025 when he stole 38 bags.

Juan Soto Begins Running Progression

New York Mets owner Steve Cohen said that star outfielder Juan Soto (calf) began a running progression on Tuesday, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. It's a significant step as Soto rehabs a strained right calf that landed him on the 10-day injured list. Soto has been doing baseball activities since the days after straining his calf on April 3, but he hadn't started a running progression until Tuesday. When asked whether Soto would go on a minor-league rehab assignment, manager Carlos Mendoza mentioned getting "creative," which means the Mets could bring minor-league pitchers to Citi Field to simulate live at-bats for him. The club has estimated that Soto will return in two to three weeks, which puts him in range of returning from the IL at some point next week, if not this weekend. New York desperately needs Soto back, as they've scored one or zero runs in five of their last six games. Before his calf injury, Soto had been extremely productive, slashing .355/.412/.516 with a homer and two doubles in eight games.

Juan Soto Could Return for Next Homestand

New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said on Friday that the team is optimistic that it will not be a long-term absence for All-Star outfielder Juan Soto (calf), according to Tim Britton of The Athletic. In fact, Soto could come off the 10-day injured list for the start of the next homestand on April 21. Soto has yet to resume a running program, but he has been swinging a bat and playing catch as he recovers from a minor calf strain. The four-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger winner was off to a strong start offensively before his calf injury, so fantasy managers certainly would love to see Soto return sooner rather than later. In his first eight games to kick off his second season in Queens, Soto had gone 11-for-31 (.355) with a homer, two doubles, five RBI, and three runs scored in 34 plate appearances. His absence has opened up some more playing time for Brett Baty, Tyrone Taylor, and Mark Vientos.

Juan Soto Not Close to Starting a Running Program

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (calf), who is on the 10-day injured list with a right-calf strain, has been swinging a bat indoors and playing catch, but he's not close to starting a running program, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Soto will continue to take part in light baseball activities when he heals. It's not a very serious calf injury, but the All-Star outfielder won't be back immediately when he's eligible to return from the 10-day IL. The four-time All-Star and six-time Silver Slugger winner is an absolute must-stash in all fantasy leagues as a five-category contributor. Soto was off to a strong start before his injury, too, going 11-for-31 (.355) at the plate with a homer, two doubles, five RBI, three runs scored, three walks, and six strikeouts in eight games played. Mark Vientos should continue to see his playing time rise as long as Soto remains on the shelf.

Juan Soto Shut Down From Baseball Activities for Now

New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said on Tuesday that outfielder Juan Soto (calf) will be doing treatment and exercises but won't do any baseball activity until the soreness in his calf subsides, according to Laura Albanese of Newsday. "We wanted to play it safe," said Mendoza. Soto is out two to three weeks with a right-calf strain that he suffered in the win over the San Francisco Giants on Friday. The good news is that the 27-year-old's injury is considered pretty minor. Obviously, he should be stashed in an injured list spot in all fantasy baseball formats. In the meantime, Jared Young, Brett Baty, and Tyrone Taylor are all candidates to see playing time in left field while Soto recovers. Soto, a four-time All-Star, was off to a hot start offensively, too, going 11-for-31 (.355) with a homer, five RBI, and three runs scored in eight games before getting injured.

Mets Place Juan Soto on 10-Day Injured List

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (calf) has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 4. According to an announcement from the team, he has been diagnosed with a right calf strain, which typically has a return-to-play timeline of two to three weeks. Soto was off to an unsurprisingly strong start this season, slashing .355/.412/.516 with one home run and five RBI across eight games. He's one of the best pure hitters in baseball, producing at least 143 wRC+ in each of his nine MLB campaigns so far. The 27-year-old ranks as the #2 outfielder in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings, so managers will be excited for his return to action later this month. In the meantime, we expect Jared Young and Brett Baty to handle more outfield reps in his absence.

Juan Soto Not in the Lineup on Sunday

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (right calf strain) remains absent from the lineup for Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Soto suffered the injury on Friday and has been sidelined throughout the weekend. He's not expected to land on the injured list, but there hasn't been an exact timetable for his return. Soto is one of the best hitters in baseball, so the Mets would love to get him back in the lineup, but they also won't rush him back before he's ready. Through eight games this year, the 27-year-old owns a .355/.412/.516 slash line with one home run, five RBI, and 165 wRC+. Jared Young has taken over as the Mets' left fielder in Soto's absence.

Juan Soto Day-to-Day With Minor Groin Strain, No Decision on IL Yet

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (groin) had an MRI on Saturday, which revealed a minor groin strain. Soto is considered day-to-day, and no decision has been made yet on whether he will be placed on the injured list. "We're going to see how I wake up the next couple of days and take it from there," said Soto. The 27-year-old exited Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants early in the first inning with calf tightness. He was off to a hot start this season, slashing .355/.412/.516 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs over eight games. According to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, Soto will be further evaluated on Tuesday when the Mets return to Citi Field; an IL decision is still on the table. Tyrone Taylor, Carson Benge, and Brett Baty should see an uptick in at-bats with Soto sidelined.

Mets Concerned About Juan Soto's Calf Injury

New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (calf) is scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the calf injury he suffered on Friday against the San Francisco Giants, according to John Harper of SNY. Manager Carlos Mendoza admitted that he was "concerned" about the 27-year-old's injury but would wait for the MRI results before divulging further. Soto has appeared in seven games this season, slashing .355/.412/.516 with one home run, five RBI, an 8.8% walk rate, a 17.6% strikeout rate, and 162 wRC+. He has been hitting out of the No. 2 spot, but if the injury is as serious as Mendoza feared, he could be sidelined for at least Saturday's contest against the Giants. If so, we could see more playing time for Carson Benge and Tyrone Taylor.
