Kendrys Morales Retires From Baseball

First baseman/designated hitter Kendrys Morales announced his retirement on Friday after a career spanning 13 seasons and seven teams. The 36-year-old hit just .194 with two home runs in 201 plate appearances with the Athletics and Yankees last season, and he was released by New York in July. He defected from Cuba in 2004 to sign a six-year, $3 million deal with the Angels. Morales hit 34 home runs with 108 RBI and a .569 slugging percentage in his first full year in the majors in 2009. He also had stints with the Mariners, Royals, Twins and Blue Jays and will finish his career with 213 home runs, 740 RBI and a .265 batting average.

Kendrys Morales Released By Yankees

New York Yankees designated hitter Kendrys Morales has been released after clearing unconditional waivers. Morales was designated for assignment last week and clearly the Yankees were unable to find a suitor for the 36-year-old. He last appeared in a game on June 11 before being placed on the injured list with a calf injury. This might spell the beginning of the end for the former sluggers career, as he was hitting just .194 with two home runs and 12 RBI over 170 at-bats this season. Even if he would get picked up by someone, he could be easily avoided in fantasy leagues.

Kendrys Morales Lands on 10-Day Injured List

New York Yankees first baseman Kendrys Morales (calf) has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left calf. Relief pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr. and outfielder Mike Tauchman have been recalled as corresponding moves. Morales was traded to the Yankees during the 2019 season but failed to produce in his limited time with the team, batting just .177 with one home run and five RBI throughout 19 games. The 35-year-old could be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Kendrys Morales is Sitting Out on Saturday

New York Yankees designated hitter Kendrys Morales (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Morales hit his first home run on the Yankees during Friday's contest. The Yankees are banged up at the moment, so Morales actually has some fantasy value despite his recent struggles with the Athletics. Gary Sanchez will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup versus lefty Blake Snell. There are probably better DFS options for Saturday.

Kendrys Morales Traded To Yankees

The New York Yankees have traded for Oakland Athletics designated hitter Kendrys Morales and cash considerations in exchange for a player-to-be-named or cash, the Yankees announced Tuesday night. Morales was designated for assignment Monday. He had no place on the A's roster with the recent return of Matt Olson, combined with only a .204 average, just one home run, and seven runs batted in. The switch-hitting Morales should benefit from a shift to a smaller park in Yankee Stadium. Regardless, he's nothing but an AL-only option, while carrying some DFS value for the power potential. To make room for the 35-year-old, the Yankees transferred Jonathan Loaisiga to the 60-day IL.

Matt Olson To Return Tuesday, Kendrys Morales Likely Gone

Oakland Athletics first baseman Matt Olson (hand) will come off the injured list on Tuesday against the Reds. Olson had 29 home runs and 84 RBI last year, but he broke the hamate bone in his right hand on March 21 in the two-game series against the Mariners in Japan. In a corresponding move, the A's are likely to let veteran first baseman Kendrys Morales go. While Olson's power might not return immediately following his hand surgery, he should still be owned in all fantasy leagues. Morales, 35, hasn't done much this year with the bat while filling in for Olson and can be dropped everywhere.

Chad Pinder Scratched, Kendrys Morales In Tuesday's Lineup

Oakland Athletics outfielder Chad Pinder was a late scratch from Tuesday's lineup. The reason for the decision is currently unknown. The 27-year-old was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI during a win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday, but he has batted just .238 through six games this season.Kendrys Morales will draw back into the lineup at first base and bat fifth while Mark Canha moves to left field and bats sixth. The Athletics are a team to fade in DFS purposes on Tuesday night going up against the formidable Chris Sale. More should come out on Pinder's status after the game.

Kendrys Morales Makes His Oakland Debut

Oakland Athletics first baseman/designated hitter Kendrys Morales made his team debut on Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels. He was batting fifth in manager Bob Melvin's lineup while playing first base, and he finished 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. He is expected to see a pretty sizable role in the offense with first baseman Matt Olson on the shelf for at least a month due to a hand injury. Morales is a solid power option for fantasy owners, especially in spacious Oakland, as he has posted 21 or more homers in each of his past four seasons, and six of the past seven campaigns.

Kendrys Morales Making A's Debut

Oakland Athletics first baseman Kendrys Morales is starting at first base and is batting fifth in his debut on Friday night against Angels starter Matt Harvey. Morales should be the team's regular first baseman while Matt Olson recovers from his hand injury suffered in Tokyo. The veteran switch-hitter batted only .249/.331/.438 with 21 home runs and 57 RBI in his final season in Toronto, but he shouldn't be ignored as an RBI and power bat with his new team. He's moving from one of the best hitter's parks to one of the best pitcher's parks, but Morales still has some fantasy appeal in deeper leagues.

Kendrys Morales Traded To The Athletics

Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter Kendrys Morales has been traded to the Oakland Athletics for infield prospect Jesus Lopez and international signing bonus-pool space. Morales had a .249 average for the Jays last season to go along with 21 home runs and 57 RBI. The 35-year-old slugger has hit at least 20 HRs in each of the past four seasons. The Athletics recently lost Matt Olson (hand) to injury for a considerable amount of time, so it is likely that Morales will play at first base with Khris Davis staying as the designated hitter. Morales sees an increase in fantasy value as he will likely bat somewhere in the middle of the lineup, but he is solely a depth bat in deeper formats.
