Kevin Gausman to Start Game 2 of World Series

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman will start Game 2 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. He'll oppose Dodgers righty Yoshinobu Yamamoto. In his most recent appearance this past Monday, Gausman came out of the bullpen in an ALCS-clinching win over the Seattle Mariners in Game 7. The 34-year-old overcame three walks (including an intentional pass to Cal Raleigh) to toss a scoreless seventh inning and earn the victory, sending the Blue Jays to their first Fall Classic since 1993. Despite an underwhelming 12:9 K:BB, Gausman has recorded a sparkling 2.00 ERA while yielding just 10 hits over 18 innings this postseason.

Kevin Gausman Ready for Possible Game 7 Appearance as Blue Jays Eye AL Pennant

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman has declared his readiness for a potential Game 7 of the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners. Gausman told reporters he will be "out there cleated up and ready to go" in the bullpen if the series reaches a decisive game. The veteran starter has pitched in both Game 1 and Game 5 of this series, posting a strong 2.12 ERA across the entire postseason while delivering key innings throughout Toronto's playoff run. Gausman has been instrumental to the Blue Jays' success and with both teams adopting a win-by-all-means mindset, Gausman could play a pivotal role if the Blue Jays push the series to its limit.

Kevin Gausman to Start Game 5 of ALCS Against Seattle

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman will start Game 5 of the American League Championship Series in Seattle against the Mariners on Friday, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. Right-handed rookie Trey Yesavage could be available out of the bullpen in a long-relief role if Gausman struggles early. In the Game 1 loss to the Mariners, Gausman pitched well, allowing two earned runs on three hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out five in 5 2/3 innings. He picked up the win in Game 1 of the AL Division Series against the New York Yankees, giving up just one run while walking two and striking out three in 5 2/3 innings, so he has been reliable for Toronto so far this postseason. In his only other start in 2025 against Seattle back on May 9, Gausman picked up a win, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while walking none and striking out three in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Kevin Gausman Listed as Blue Jays' ALCS Game 1 Starter

Toronto Blue Jays veteran starting pitcher Kevin Gausman is listed as the team's starting pitcher for Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Gausman and the Blue Jays will take on the Seattle Mariners starting on Sunday. The 34-year-old went 10-11 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 189 strikeouts in 193 innings (32 starts) for Toronto this season. He was excellent in one appearance in the ALDS against the New York Yankees, pitching 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball and recording the victory. In his lone start against Seattle this season, Gausman earned a win by pitching 5 1/3 innings and allowing seven hits and three earned runs while walking none and striking out three.

Kevin Gausman to Take the Ball in Game 1 of ALDS Against Yankees

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that right-hander Kevin Gausman will make the start in Game 1 of the American League Division Series in Toronto against the division-rival New York Yankees on Saturday, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Gausman will be pitching on five days of rest and will be facing a familiar foe in the Yanks, whom he faced four times in 2025. In those four starts, Gausman went 2-1 with a 3.97 ERA, allowing 17 hits (two homers), walking 12, and striking out 18 in 22 2/3 innings pitched. The 34-year-old veteran went 10-11 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 189:50 K:BB in 193 innings over his 32 starts in his fourth year in Toronto. The good news is that Gausman performed much better in the second half of the season with an ERA under 3.00. However, he was slightly worse at the Rogers Centre, and he'll be facing a Yankees lineup with plenty of slug.

Kevin Gausman to Pitch "in Some Capacity" on Sunday

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman will pitch "in some capacity" against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, manager John Schneider told reporters. The Blue Jays will need a victory in the regular-season finale to lock up the American League East, so Gausman will likely make a normal start. Toronto entered play on Saturday with the same record as the division-rival New York Yankees (92-68). However, New York has since pulled a half-game ahead thanks to an afternoon win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Blue Jays, who own the tiebreaker over the Yankees, will have to beat the Rays on Saturday to enter Sunday atop the division and control their own destiny. Despite a 10-11 record, Gausman has helped pitch the Jays to the playoffs this season. The 34-year-old has notched a 3.47 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 184:48 K:BB over 31 starts and 189 2/3 innings.

Kevin Gausman Tosses Complete-Game Shutout

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman dominated the Houston Astros in a complete-game shutout on Thursday. Gausman improved to 10-10 in the Jays' 6-0 victory, yielding a pair of singles while tallying nine strikeouts against one walk over 100 pitches (79 pitches). The 34-year-old has offered elite production across his past three starts, having combined for 24 innings of two-run, eight-hit ball with 22:2 K:BB. His ERA is down to 3.44 with the majors' 10th-best WHIP (1.00), 171 strikeouts, and 45 walks through 177 1/3 innings. Gausman is scheduled to make his next start against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The Rays got the better of Gausman in their first meeting on May 15, when they teed off on him for six earned runs on 10 hits (including three homers) in 5 2/3 frames.

Kevin Gausman to Start Series Opener Against Yankees

The Blue Jays have their starting pitchers in place for a pivotal upcoming series against the division-rival New York Yankees. Right-handers Kevin Gausman (Monday), Max Scherzer (Tuesday), and Chris Bassitt (Wednesday) will face a New York team that trails AL East-leading Toronto by three games. Both Gausman and Scherzer will be making their second-half debuts. Bassitt started in a win over the Giants on Friday and managed to throw 6 1/3 scoreless innings despite scattering 10 hits. Gausman, who has gone 6-7 with a 4.19 ERA over 109 2/3 frames, has already had two meetings with the Yankees this year. The team split those matchups, but Gausman combined for 7 2/3 innings of eight-run ball with nine hits allowed and more walks (nine) than strikeouts (five). Scherzer missed three months with a thumb injury, but the three-time Cy Young Award winner has performed respectably since coming back June 25. In four starts since then, including one against the Yankees, Scherzer has totaled 20 innings and given up 10 earned runs on 19 hits with 23:7 K:BB. The 40-year-old was strong in the club's win over New York on June 30, fanning seven over five innings of two-run, three-hit ball. Scherzer threw a season-high six frames and 90 pitches in his previous start, so any questions about his thumb appear to be behind him.

Kevin Gausman Masterful in Win Over Guardians

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman was extremely stingy in the team's 6-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in Thursday's series finale. Gausman hurled eight shutout innings while allowing only two hit, walking one and striking out six to lower his season ERA to 4.21. It was a very nice bounce-back outing for the 34-year-old veteran after he gave up a season-high seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings for a loss in his last outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This was easily Gausman's best start in June, as he had allowed a total of 17 earned runs on 20 hits (four homers) while walking 12 and striking out 23 over 20 innings in his previous four starts. It's not going to get any easier next time out, though, as he's currently set up to toe the rubber against the division-rival New York Yankees at home next week.

Kevin Gausman Struggles in Defeat

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman struggled through one of his worst starts of the season in a 9-5 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Gausman exited after surrendering seven earned runs on seven hits, including two homers. He struck out four, walked three, and threw 46 of 81 pitches for strikes. The two-time All-Star entered June off an effective May, but his numbers have gone backward this month. Across four starts and 20 innings, Gausman has coughed up 17 earned runs on 23 hits and posted 23 strikeouts against 12 walks. As a result of his recent woes, his ERA has climbed to an uncharacteristic 4.60 with 84:24 K:BB over 86 frames. Gausman's xERA, FIP, and xFIP are all under 4.00, suggesting that positive regression is on the horizon. The 34-year-old will try for a bounce-back outing against the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. Gausman dominated the Guardians back on May 3, tossing six scoreless, one-hit innings with nine strikeouts and one walk.
