Kevin Gausman News
The Toronto Blue Jays announced that right-hander Kevin Gausman will start Game 1 of the wild-card series against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. This was the obvious outcome once the Blue Jays scratched Gausman from the regular season finale on Sunday after they had already clinched a playoff spot. An All-Star for the second time in his career this year, Gausman was a starting rotation anchor for the Blue Jays with a 12-9 record, 3.16 ERA (2.97 FIP), 1.18 WHIP, 55 walks and a league-high 237 strikeouts in 185 innings over his 31 starts. The 32-year-old veteran struggled in his two starts against the Twins this year, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits while walking nine and striking out 12 in 10 innings. However, Gausman is coming off 13 shutout innings in his last two starts (both against the New York Yankees).
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman turned in a strong outing but took a no-decision in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to the Yankees. Gausman pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks with five strikeouts. While the 32-year-old's 1.20 WHIP leaves a bit to be desired, his 12-9 record, 3.16 ERA, and 11.53 K/9 rate have made him a high-end fantasy option once again this season. He is slated to make one final start against a tough Rays matchup, but fantasy managers should feel comfortable starting him.
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman will look to keep his club hot when he takes on the New York Yankees in a road start Wednesday evening. Winners of four straight, the Blue Jays currently occupy the second Wild Card spot in the American League but sit just a single game ahead of both the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners with two postseason spots available between the three clubs. The right-hander allowed four earned runs while uncharacteristically walking six in just 4 2/3 innings in a loss to the aforementioned Rangers his last time out. For the season, Gausman sports a healthy 3.40 ERA in 29 starts while his 222 strikeouts on the season sit third in baseball behind only Spencer Strider (270) and Blake Snell (227).

One of the primary centerpieces of the Toronto Blue Jays rotation, Kevin Gausman, just completed his 10th year of service in the pros. He nearly obtained a Cy Young award with the San Francisco Giants just a year prior, but Gausman was still effective this past season. The 32-year-old molded a 3.35 ERA which is a one-point drop off from last year's campaign. Across 31 starts, the right-hander struck out 205 batters with a 28.3% strikeout rate. One improvement in Gausman was his walk and HR count. He reduced his BB% to a career-low 3.3% and yielded five fewer home runs than last season (15). He continues to play a critical role as the number two arm for John Schneider's rotation. If he makes a few adjustments, it wouldn't be a stretch to bump up his 68.05 ADP.
