Kevin Gausman Strikes Out Double-Digit Batters for Second-Straight Game

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman has been sharp through two outings this season. During Tuesday's start against the Colorado Rockies, he allowed two hits and zero walks over six shutout innings. He also struck out 10 batters along the way. Gausman has been spectacular so far in the 2026 campaign, albeit over a small sample size. He has allowed just one run, zero walks, and three hits through two starts (12.1 innings) while striking out 21 batters. The right-hander has continued to prove himself as one of the most effective starters in baseball, even at 35 years old. He has kept his FIP below 4.00 every season since 2018, and he's certainly on track to extend that streak in 2026. As it stands, he ranks #25 among starters in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings. However, he has top-five upside if he continues to pitch at an elite level.

Kevin Gausman Picks Up No-Decision But Strikes Out 11 on Opening Day

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman didn't end up picking up his first win of the 2026 season in the team's 3-2 Opening Day win over the Athletics on Friday, but he was a beast nevertheless for his fantasy managers in his first start of the year. Gausman was in midseason form, allowing just one earned run on a solo home run to catcher Shea Langeliers while walking none and striking out 11 in six innings of work. The 35-year-old was nearly perfect in his 2026 debut and struck out seven of the first 10 batters he faced. His signature sinker was on point and dipping under A's hitters' bats all night. Despite not having high-end velocity for a starting pitcher, Gausman continues to be effective as an ace for the Blue Jays. The two-time All-Star will be a must-start for fantasy managers in his second game of the season next week against the Colorado Rockies at home, where he'll have a pretty good shot to pick up his first win of 2026.

Kevin Gausman Named Toronto's Opening Day Starter

The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Saturday that right-hander Kevin Gausman will be their Opening Day starter in 2026. Gausman is going into his fifth year with the Blue Jays. He's been their ace all along and was an All-Star for the second time back in 2023. The 35-year-old veteran went 10-11 last year with a 3.59 ERA (3.41 FIP), 1.06 WHIP, and 189:50 K: BB in a career-high 193 innings over 32 starts. Not only has Gausman been a solid fantasy starter in his time in Toronto, but he's been reliable, making at least 31 starts in five straight seasons with a 3.34 ERA and 1.15 WHIP during that span. RotoBaller has Gausman ranked as its No. 27 fantasy starting pitcher because of his pedigree and durability through the year. We know Gausman has a high fantasy floor and elite command of the baseball when pitching, but there is inherent risk in going with a pitcher near the end of his career as your No. 2 or 3 arm. Gausman will face an up-and-coming young Athletics lineup on Opening Day on March 27.

Kevin Gausman Ready to Keep Rolling in 2026

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman has been extremely reliable and consistent for the Blue Jays in the first four years of his five-year deal signed as a free agent before the 2022 season. The 36-year-old righty is entering the final year of his contract, and over the last five seasons (including his last with the Giants), he has racked up 1,020 strikeouts in 925 2/3 innings while making 158 starts and posting a 3.34 ERA and 16.4 WAR. Gausman has made at least 30 starts in each of those five seasons and won at least 10 games. He could be an intriguing veteran free agent next offseason, or the Blue Jays could try to extend their workhorse before he hits the open market. His consistency and reliability make him an undervalued fantasy asset coming into this year in many leagues.

Kevin Gausman to Start Game 2 of World Series

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman will start Game 2 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. He'll oppose Dodgers righty Yoshinobu Yamamoto. In his most recent appearance this past Monday, Gausman came out of the bullpen in an ALCS-clinching win over the Seattle Mariners in Game 7. The 34-year-old overcame three walks (including an intentional pass to Cal Raleigh) to toss a scoreless seventh inning and earn the victory, sending the Blue Jays to their first Fall Classic since 1993. Despite an underwhelming 12:9 K:BB, Gausman has recorded a sparkling 2.00 ERA while yielding just 10 hits over 18 innings this postseason.

Kevin Gausman Ready for Possible Game 7 Appearance as Blue Jays Eye AL Pennant

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman has declared his readiness for a potential Game 7 of the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners. Gausman told reporters he will be "out there cleated up and ready to go" in the bullpen if the series reaches a decisive game. The veteran starter has pitched in both Game 1 and Game 5 of this series, posting a strong 2.12 ERA across the entire postseason while delivering key innings throughout Toronto's playoff run. Gausman has been instrumental to the Blue Jays' success and with both teams adopting a win-by-all-means mindset, Gausman could play a pivotal role if the Blue Jays push the series to its limit.

Kevin Gausman to Start Game 5 of ALCS Against Seattle

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman will start Game 5 of the American League Championship Series in Seattle against the Mariners on Friday, according to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. Right-handed rookie Trey Yesavage could be available out of the bullpen in a long-relief role if Gausman struggles early. In the Game 1 loss to the Mariners, Gausman pitched well, allowing two earned runs on three hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out five in 5 2/3 innings. He picked up the win in Game 1 of the AL Division Series against the New York Yankees, giving up just one run while walking two and striking out three in 5 2/3 innings, so he has been reliable for Toronto so far this postseason. In his only other start in 2025 against Seattle back on May 9, Gausman picked up a win, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while walking none and striking out three in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Kevin Gausman Listed as Blue Jays' ALCS Game 1 Starter

Toronto Blue Jays veteran starting pitcher Kevin Gausman is listed as the team's starting pitcher for Game 1 of the American League Championship Series, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Gausman and the Blue Jays will take on the Seattle Mariners starting on Sunday. The 34-year-old went 10-11 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 189 strikeouts in 193 innings (32 starts) for Toronto this season. He was excellent in one appearance in the ALDS against the New York Yankees, pitching 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball and recording the victory. In his lone start against Seattle this season, Gausman earned a win by pitching 5 1/3 innings and allowing seven hits and three earned runs while walking none and striking out three.

Kevin Gausman to Take the Ball in Game 1 of ALDS Against Yankees

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that right-hander Kevin Gausman will make the start in Game 1 of the American League Division Series in Toronto against the division-rival New York Yankees on Saturday, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Gausman will be pitching on five days of rest and will be facing a familiar foe in the Yanks, whom he faced four times in 2025. In those four starts, Gausman went 2-1 with a 3.97 ERA, allowing 17 hits (two homers), walking 12, and striking out 18 in 22 2/3 innings pitched. The 34-year-old veteran went 10-11 with a 3.59 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 189:50 K:BB in 193 innings over his 32 starts in his fourth year in Toronto. The good news is that Gausman performed much better in the second half of the season with an ERA under 3.00. However, he was slightly worse at the Rogers Centre, and he'll be facing a Yankees lineup with plenty of slug.

Kevin Gausman to Pitch "in Some Capacity" on Sunday

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman will pitch "in some capacity" against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, manager John Schneider told reporters. The Blue Jays will need a victory in the regular-season finale to lock up the American League East, so Gausman will likely make a normal start. Toronto entered play on Saturday with the same record as the division-rival New York Yankees (92-68). However, New York has since pulled a half-game ahead thanks to an afternoon win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Blue Jays, who own the tiebreaker over the Yankees, will have to beat the Rays on Saturday to enter Sunday atop the division and control their own destiny. Despite a 10-11 record, Gausman has helped pitch the Jays to the playoffs this season. The 34-year-old has notched a 3.47 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and 184:48 K:BB over 31 starts and 189 2/3 innings.
