Kyle Barraclough News
The Boston Red Sox signed free-agent veteran right-hander Kyle Barraclough to a minor-league deal on Monday, according to a source. Barraclough will return to the big leagues after pitching in the Atlantic League for the High Point Rockers. He made only eight appearances out of the bullpen last year for the Los Angeles Angels, giving up three runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out nine in nine innings. The 33-year-old will most likely join Triple-A Worcester while providing the Red Sox with some organizational relief depth. In his seven-year big-league career, Barraclough has a 3.61 ERA (3.93 FIP), 1.36 WHIP, 11 saves and a 28.9 percent strikeout rate in 274 1/3 relief innings.
The Minnesota Twins selected the contracts of pitchers Andrew Albers and Kyle Barraclough from Triple-A on Thursday, the team announced in a press release. These were the corresponding moves to the placement of Lewis Thorpe on the 10-day injured list and the optioning of Edgar Garcia to Triple-A. Albers has not pitched in the majors since 2017, where he went 5-1 with a 3.51 ERA, 1.293 WHIP and 20.8 percent strikeout rate over 41 innings with Seattle. He's looked decent at Triple-A this year, going 6-4 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.297 WHIP and 19.8 percent strikeout rate over 91 innings of work. Meanwhile, Kyle Barraclough has not pitched in the majors since 2019, but he's looked pretty solid at Triple-A this year, where he's gone 7-1 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.056 WHIP and 38.7 percent strikeout rate over 36 innings between Minnesota and New York's system. Barraclough could be a decent play in SV/HLD formats, while Albers is a potential streaming option in deeper formats.
The Minnesota Twins have signed relief pitcher Kyle Barraclough to a minor league deal. The veteran righty reliever was released by the New York Yankees earlier this month. Before getting cut, Barraclough posted a 4.21 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 24/11 K/BB ratio across 14 innings in Triple-A. He has not pitched in the MLB since the 2019 season where he finished with a horrendous 5.61 ERA. Barraclough was a reliable and productive reliever earlier in his career with the Miami Marlins. Possibly, there is some gas left in the tank, but fantasy managers shouldn't bother adding Barraclough to their roster.
