Pitcher Logan Allen was optioned by the Cleveland Guardians Tuesday in a series of moves that also saw the team bring up pitcher Anthony Gose while designating pitcher Xzavion Curry for assignment. Allen was 8-4 but had an ERA of 5.56 and a WHIP of 1.56 over 92 1/3 innings over 19 appearances. Gose, a former outfield prospect of the Toronto Blue Jays, has not appeared in the majors since 2022. He was 5-4 with a 3.29 ERA and 1.304 WHIP in 35 appearances in Triple-A Columbus, recording 10 saves. Curry was 0-2 with a 5.84 ERA and 1.378 WHIP in seven games (four starts) with the Guardians. Neither of the moves offers much fantasy impact.
Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Logan Allen is the probable starter for Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The young lefty threw a gem in his MLB debut, allowing six baserunners over six innings and striking out eight Marlins. As long as he has a place in the rotation, he should be started by fantasy managers. He has great strikeout stuff, as evidenced by his 34.5% strikeout rate in Triple-A this season.
Cleveland Guardians left-hander Logan Allen made an impression in his first MLB start on Sunday. Allen allowed one run on five hits over six innings while striking out eight and walking one in a 7-4 win over the Miami Marlins. He earned the win while becoming one of just six Cleveland pitchers to record at least eight strikeouts in his first MLB start. Allen is ranked as Cleveland's No. 8 prospect and posted a 34.5% strikeout rate in Triple-A Columbus this season. He continued to miss bats in the big leagues, notching an impressive 17 swinging strikes in his debut. Allen is set to make his second start on Tuesday, May 2 against the New York Yankees. Fantasy gamers should be looking to add Allen off of waivers where he is available.
Weather permitting, the plan is for Cleveland Guardians left-hander Logan Allen to be called up from the minor leagues in order to start on Sunday at home against the Miami Marlins. Allen, 24, will be making his major-league debut this weekend after starting the year with a strong 1.26 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings over his first three starts at Triple-A Columbus. The team's No. 8 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, could stick in Cleveland's starting rotation with Triston McKenzie (shoulder), Aaron Civale (oblique) and Cal Quantrill (leg) all injured. Allen doesn't dazzle with stuff or physicality (6-foot, 190 pounds), but he's durable, physical and accurate around the zone. Fantasy managers in need of rotation help should consider adding him.
The Baltimore Orioles claimed left-hander Logan Allen off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. Allen and first baseman Bobby Bradley were both designated for assignment by the Guardians on Sunday. Bradley cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus. Allen allowed three earned runs while walking three and striking out six in six innings over four relief appearances for Cleveland before being DFA'd over the weekend. The 24-year-old made 11 starts for the Guardians last year and had a 6.26 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 17 walks and 37 strikeouts in 50 1/3 total innings. Allen will likely continue to work in relief as he tries to win a spot on the Orioles major league roster.
The Cleveland Guardians designated pitcher Logan Allen and first baseman Bobby Bradley for assignment on Sunday. Allen made four appearances out of the bullpen this year and allowed nine hits, three walks and three earned runs over six innings. Bradley, meanwhile, appeared in eight games and went just 2-for-17 at the plate. Both players are still extremely young with Allen being 24 and Bradley being 25. While we may have seen the last of both players in Guardians jerseys, we're likely to see another team take a chance on them.
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Logan Allen allowed three runs (two earned) across 6 2/3 innings pitched while striking out three in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. While this marks two consecutive quality starts for Allen since being called up from AAA last week, he is still not trustworthy enough to stream, even in a solid matchup against the Minnesota Twins early next week.
The Cleveland Indians optioned left-hander Logan Allen to Triple-A Columbus while recalling outfielder Daniel Johnson and infielder Owen Miller from Triple-A Columbus in corresponding moves. The team also brought up right-hander D.J. Johnson. Miller will be serving as the 27th man for the doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays. With Allen back in the minors, the Tribe will need a starter for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Allen has really struggled this year, going 1-5 with a 9.13 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and a 15/11 K/BB in 22 2/3 innings over his seven starts. The southpaw's 13.9% strikeout rate and 10.2% walk rate just won't cut it in the big leagues, so he'll go back down to work on some things. He doesn't need to be held onto in deeper fantasy formats.
Cleveland Indians left-hander Logan Allen has been tabbed to start on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins. Allen started the season in the starting rotation but struggled to the tune of a 9.19 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB in five starts over 15 2/3 innings before being sent to Triple-A. In five starts in the minors, the southpaw has an 11.72 ERA, 2.15 WHIP and 13:12 K:BB over 17 2/3 frames. With the Tribe's rotation hit hard by injuries recently, they have no choice but to turn to Allen this weekend in Minnesota. The 24-year-old will have another chance to prove he belongs in the majors, but because he hasn't pitched well at any level in 2021, fantasy managers should be looking to avoid him against the Twins.
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Logan Allen had a rough day in Wednesday's 10-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins as he only managed to go 1 1/3 innings pitched while allowing six earned runs on five hits and two walks. Most knew it was going to be a short outing for Allen after he allowed three of the Twins' first four hitters to go yard off him and that is exactly how it went down as he was yanked with one out in the second inning. Allen now has a horrendous 9.19 ERA across 15 2/3 innings pitched. This was likely the last start for Allen for quite some time as he was optioned to the Indians' alternate training site after the game.
