Royals
Kansas City Royals first baseman/outfielder Matt Beaty is in the starting lineup for the first time as a member of the club on Tuesday night against right-hander Michael Lorenzen and the Detroit Tigers. Beaty had his contract purchased from Triple-A on Sunday and entered the game as a pinch-hitter, knocking a single in his lone trip to the plate. The lefty-swinging Beaty also appeared in four games for the Giants to begin the season after struggling mightily to the tune of a .093 average without a homer across 47 plate appearances with the Padres in 2022. Beaty has had decent success against right-handers in his career, posting a .736 OPS and 98 wRC+ against them across 543 trips to the plate. He'll be the designated hitter out of the six-hole Tuesday night in Detroit.

Royals Sign Matt Beaty To Minor-League Deal Monday
The Kansas City Royals signed free-agent infielders Matt Beaty and Jermaine Palacios to minor-league deals on Monday. Both players will report to Triple-A Omaha this week. Beaty comes to Kansas City after playing in the minors with the San Francisco Giants this year. The 30-year-old left-handed-hitting first baseman played in four games for the Gigantes and went 1-for-5 with an RBI and two strikeouts. In 30 games at Triple-A Sacramento, he hit .272 (28-for-103) with six doubles, four homers, 23 RBI and 14 runs scored. Beaty will serve as organizational corner-infield depth for the Royals. In parts of five big-league seasons, he has a .249 average with 18 homers, 93 RBI and seven steals in 264 games played.

Matt Beaty Optioned To Triple-A
San Francisco Giants outfielder Matt Beaty has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday. The Giants just acquired Beaty from the Royals for cash considerations and selected his contract back on March 30. He only logged a pair of plate appearances with the big league club before getting sent back down to Triple-A. Former top-prospect Heliot Ramos has been recalled in a corresponding move.

Royals Sign Matt Beaty To Minor-League Deal
The Kansas City Royals signed free-agent first baseman/outfielder Matt Beaty to a minor-league deal on Tuesday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, according to a source. Beaty played in only 20 major-league games in 2022 with the San Diego Padres, going just 4-for-43 with an RBI, six runs scored and eight strikeouts. The season prior with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he hit .270/.363/.402 with a .765 OPS, seven homers, 40 RBI, 35 runs scored and two stolen bases in 120 games played. With a rebuilding Royals club, the 29-year-old left-handed hitter will give KC some flexibility at first base and in the outfield if he makes the major-league roster out of spring training.

Matt Beaty's Rehab Assignment Put On Hold
San Diego Padres outfielder/first baseman Matt Beaty (shoulder) has had his rehab assignment put on hold. According to Padres beat writer Kevin Acee, Beaty's shoulder is "still not quite right." Beaty is now at the team's complex in Arizona, awaiting the next move. The 29-year-old has been on the shelf since May 7. He was struggling at the plate prior to the shoulder injury, slashing just .108/.175/.189 over 17 games.

Matt Beaty Dealing With Shoulder Injury
San Diego Padres first baseman Matt Beaty (shoulder) was held out of Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins due to a shoulder injury. He first sustained the injury during Saturday's game while diving for a ball. Following Saturday's game, Padres manager Bob Melvin discussed Beaty, stating, "They're working on him right now, but it was obviously enough to where he had to come out of the game, so that's not a great sign." Beaty has seen a good amount of playing time in May, mostly due to the absence of Wil Myers (thumb). We should know whether a stint on the injured list is coming for him soon.

Padres Acquire Matt Beaty From Dodgers
The San Diego Padres acquired first baseman/outfielder Matt Beaty from the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday in exchange for right-handed pitcher River Ryan. The Dodgers designated Beaty for assignment last week, and now he'll land in the same division with the Friars. The 28-year-old definitely need some more outfield help, but at best, the left-handed hitter could serve in a platoon in left field with Jurickson Profar in San Diego. In his third year for the Dodgers in 2021, Beaty hit .270/.363/.402 with seven home runs, 40 RBI and 35 runs scored in 234 plate appearances over a career-high 120 games. Consider Beaty a low-upside option for depth in NL-only leagues.

Matt Beaty Starting At First Base For NLCS Game 6

Beaty is hitting eighth against Atlanta Braves right-handed starter Ian Anderson. In 234 plate appearances during the regular season, the 28-year-old hit .270 with a .363 on-base percentage, seven home runs, and a pair of stolen bases. Matt Beaty Goes Yard In Loss
Los Angeles Dodgers corner infielder/outfielder Matt Beaty went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Beaty's home run tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it wouldn't be enough to secure a victory. Beaty got the start with Cody Bellinger getting the day off, but would need injuries to be fantasy relevant and to receive more opportunities. He is now hitting .284 with three home runs and 25 RBI and his best value is as a DFS player in favorable matchups.

Matt Beaty Records Two RBI Against The Cardinals
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Beaty was 2-for-4 with two RBI during Monday's 8-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old has been surprisingly productive when given the opportunity this season. He is slashing .297/.325/.500 with five home runs, 31 RBI, and 22 runs scored across 148 at-bats in 2019. Beaty is riding a three-game RBI streak, but until he earns constant playing time, he is solely an option in deeper formats.
