The HBP comes a day after Castellanos was plunked in Tuesday's game leading to both benches clearing and Rays pitcher Edwin Uceta being suspended two games. For the season, Castellanos owns a solid .245-20-80-69-5 line with a .311 wOBA and 99 wRC+. It's somewhat of a down year for the veteran after the stats he put up last season, although he's increased his contact rate by more than six percent year-over-year and drastically cut down on his strikeout rate, so he could still finish strong.

He's homered in the past on the day Queen Elizabeth died and the day the I-95 collapsed in Philadelphia. If crazier things happened more on the daily Castellanos could potentially reach Barry Bonds territory, but luckily for society's sake, Castellanos has only 14 long balls on the season and not the 99 he'd have if big news dropped every single day.

All three of his homers have come in that span as the Phillies, who have won eight of their last 10, are banking that Castellanos can continue to keep his bat perking up. Castellanos is slashing .207/.268/.571 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 16 runs, and a stolen base over 157 plate appearances in 2024.
