Nick Franklin News

Nick Franklin To Miss Two Weeks With Quadriceps Strain

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Nick Franklin (quadriceps) is projected to miss about two weeks, according to Brewers manager Craig Counsell. Franklin was injured on the day he got called up and was placed on the 10-day disabled list on May 9. He will be available to be taken off the DL on May 19. However, if his two-week timetable is accurate, he will miss a little longer than that. Franklin holds no value in fantasy baseball as a bench infielder.

Nick Franklin Injured On Tuesday, Likely Headed To DL

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Nick Franklin exited Tuesday's game with a quadriceps strain and is most likely headed to the disabled list, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Franklin was just called up on the same day to replace Eric Sogard on the bench and with him most likely heading to the DL, Nate Orf would be the option to come up next. Stay posted. The keystone has been a black hole for the Brew Crew so far this year. Utility man Hernan Perez is another option to fill the position moving forward.

Nick Franklin Called Up From Double-A, Will Start On Tuesday

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Nick Franklin has been added to the 40-man roster from Double-A Biloxi and will play second base on Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians. A 40-man roster spot opened after it was announced that catcher Stephen Vogt could potentially have season-ending surgery on his shoulder and was added to the 60-day disabled list, along with Eric Sogard being optioned to Triple-A. If Franklin can jump off to a hot start, he may take the second base spot, as everyone who can play second so far has struggled. He should not be owned right now but could hold some deep league value if he can get off to a hot start.

Nick Franklin Signs With Brewers

Free-agent infielder/outfielder Nick Franklin signed to a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, including an invitation to spring training. Franklin, a former first-round pick of the Mariners, batted just .179/.269/.283 with two home runs in 119 plate appearances last season between the Brewers and Angels. The soon-to-be 27-year-old probably will not be in real consideration for an Opening Day roster spot in his return to Milwaukee.

Nick Franklin Will be Angels Primary Second Baseman

Recently acquired Nick Franklin will serve as the Angels primary 2B against right-handed pitchers after the Angels designated 2B Danny Espinosa for assignment. Franklin, 26, is on his third team of the year after being DFA'd at the start of the season by the Rays, and then being picked up by the Brewers before being traded to the Angels. Franklin has 100 at-bats on the season and is slashing .180/.274/.280 with two home runs and two stolen bases. The former top prospect has never quite put it all together at the big league level, and is unlikely to serve much fantasy value going forward. Those in deep mixed and AL-only leagues can scoop up Franklin if they are desperate for middle infield help, but he should be left alone otherwise.
