Former Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Nick Kingham was acquired by the Blue Jays on Thursday for cash considerations. The 27-year-old has been pretty bad through 34 2/3 innings with the Pirates and posting a 9.87 ERA. He has managed 32 strikeouts in those innings but just couldn't get going as he did the previous year in which he threw a 5.21 ERA over 76 innings. The change of scenery and a possible chance in the starting rotation in Toronto could put him back on fantasy radars. Keep an eye out to see how he'll be used and if he's able to get into a groove.
The Pittsburgh Pirates placed pitcher Rookie Davis (finger) on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a blister on his right middle finger and designated pitcher Nick Kingham for assignment. Outfielder Corey Dickerson (shoulder) and third baseman Jung Ho Kang (oblique) are back from the injured list, while reliever Michael Feliz has been recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis. Davis developed a blister on his finger during his start on Friday night. He has a 6.75 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 10 K's in 10 2/3 innings this year and isn't fantasy relevant. Kingham has been worse in 14 games (four starts), going 1-1 with a 9.61 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 34 2/3 frames.
Rookie Davis To Start Friday, Nick Kingham To Bullpen
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Rookie Davis will start on Friday against the Brewers, while Nick Kingham will be moved to the bullpen. Davis, 26, has a 5.87 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings in four relief outings for the Bucs this year. He had an 8.63 ERA in six starts and one relief outing for the Reds in 2017 and was sporting a 5.35 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in seven starts for Triple-A Indianapolis on the farm. Avoid him at all costs against the Brew Crew this Friday. Kingham has been bad all around in Pittsburgh this year, posting an 8.91 ERA, 2.01 WHIP and 32 K's in 32 1/3 innings over four starts and nine relief appearances.
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Nick Kingham will make the start on Saturday against the Brewers, according to manager Clint Hurdle. If Jordan Lyles (hamstring) gets through his bullpen session on Thursday without issue, he'll make the start on Sunday. Kingham has an atrocious 8.28 ERA and 1.94 WHIP in 12 outings (three starts) for the Bucs this year, so he's one to avoid against a powerful Milwaukee lineup this weekend. The right-hander has gone four innings twice and five innings once in his three starts this season. He's also walked 15 hitters in his 29 1/3 innings.
Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers Steven Brault and Nick Kingham will both get the chance to start this week as the team deals with injuries to starters Chris Archer and Jameson Taillon. Brault will go on Tuesday against the Rangers, with Kingham going on Wednesday. Kingham made 15 starts in 2018, while Brault has 16 starts spread across the last three seasons, with none so far in 2019. Brault's ERA currently stands at 8.31, while Kingham has a mark of 6.39. Neither pitcher is likely to go deep against Texas, making them poor streaming choices in deeper leagues.
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Nick Kingham was named to the Opening Day roster, the team announced on Tuesday. Also joining him on the season-opening 25-man roster are relief pitcher Nick Burdi, utilityman Pablo Reyes, and shortstop Kevin Newman. Kingham was fighting for the team's fifth rotation spot this spring but will instead start the season out of the pen, in favor of Jordan Lyles. Burdi, the 2017 Rule 5 Draft pick impressed this spring with 13 strikeouts in 10 innings. Reyes will likely provide outfield depth in the early going, while Newman is set to backup Erik Gonzalez at shortstop. Kingham would be the only option worthy of any fantasy relevance but only if he ends up getting opportunities to start in April.
Pittsburgh Pirates starter Nick Kingham held the Orioles split squad scoreless on Sunday, allowing just one hit and striking out two. Kingham will likely come out of the bullpen to start the season but could enter the rotation if fifth starter Jordan Lyles falters. The 27-year old struggled to a 5.21 ERA last season and should only be considered in dynasty formats.
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Nick Kingham has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. Kingham gave up four runs and lasted just one inning versus the Cubs on Wednesday. Chris Archer has been activated, so Kingham was going to lose his spot in the rotation regardless. Relief pitcher Keone Kela was added to the 25-man roster, so Kingham has been sent down as the corresponding move.
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Nick Kingham was roughed up in Wednesday's start against the Chicago Cubs. Kingham went one inning, and gave up four runs on three hits. The good news is that only two of them were earned. He walked one and struck out one. His next start should come on Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies in Denver. Starting pitchers at Coors Field is always a tough call for any fantasy owner, and it is harder now that the Rockies are playing so well.
Nick Kingham Has Strong Outing Saturday In Cincinnati
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Nick Kingham had a terrific outing Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. He pitched into the seventh inning with four hits, two walks, and three strikeouts. His last pitch was a two-run homer from Curt Casali. Kingham contributed offensively with a two RBI single in the sixth inning. He is a talented pitcher that many expect big things from. He is 4-4 with a 4.11 ERA, and is set to take the win on Saturday.
