The Milwaukee Brewers signed free-agent outfielders Richie Shaffer and Rymer Liriano to minor league deals on Friday, according to a source. Both players will report to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Shaffer was released by the Indians on June 8 after hitting under .200 at Triple-A. He was a former first-round pick, though and managed 30 home runs last year in the minors. Liriano was released by the Angels on Wednesday and hit .268 with 16 long balls this year. Both players will be minor league outfield depth for the team and are unlikely to make any kind of fantasy impact the rest of this year.
Leury Garcia Placed On Disabled List, Rymer Liriano Called Up
Chicago White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia (thumb) has been placed on the disabled list with a sprained right thumb. Garcia has spent a lot of time on the disabled list this year but has been productive when he has played. Outfielder Rymer Liriano has been called up in a corresponding move by the club. Adam Engel figures to get the bulk of playing for Garcia and is starting in center field tonight. He can be left on the waiver wire.
