Rockies Sign Scott Schebler To Minor League Deal

The Colorado Rockies have signed outfielder Scott Schebler to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training, according to Ken Rosenthal. In 2018 Schebler batted .255 and launched 17 homers for the Reds, but Hasn't been able to stay healthy in the years since. Over there past three seasons, Schebler has played in just 45 games total and has a sub-.150 batting average in that span. If Schebler wins a starting job in Colorado he could have some deep-league appeal, but the majority of fantasy managers can disregard Schebler in drafts.

Scott Schebler Called Up By Angels

The Los Angeles Angels purchased the contract of outfielder Scott Schebler from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday and optioned infielder/outfielder Kean Wong to Salt Lake in a corresponding move. Schebler had just four hits in 27 at-bats (.148) with 11 strikeouts with the Angels earlier this year, but he had an .878 OPS with eight homers and 31 RBI in 40 games down on the farm. The left-handed hitter is in left field and is batting sixth against New York Yankees right-hander Michael King on Monday. There is playing time available in Anaheim in left field with Justin Upton on the injured list, so Schebler could become a short-term power option in AL-only leagues. Wong had a weak .482 OPS for the Angels this season.

Braves Acquire Scott Schebler Off Waivers

The Atlanta Braves have added outfielder Scott Schebler to the mix after he was placed on waivers after not making the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day roster. The Braves were looking for another outfield bat to replace veteran Nick Markakis (opting out of playing in 2020) when they signed Yasiel Puig, before that deal fell through. Schebler brings a left-handed power bat to the equation, having mashed 30 home runs in 2017 for Cincinnati. He hit just .123 in 81 Major League at-bats last season, and it remains unclear whether Schebler will join Atlanta in the near future. He can remain on the waiver wire in all but the deepest standard formats, although he will have some DFS appeal for owners looking for cheap options against right-handed pitching upon his arrival.

Scott Schebler Optioned To Triple-A, Cody Reed Recalled

The Cincinnati Reds optioned outfielder Scott Schebler to Triple-A on Saturday. Schebler, who stood to see a big dent put in his playing time with the promotion of Nick Senzel, will look to get his season on track in the minors. The outfielder struggled at the plate this season, hitting just .123 with 27 strikeouts in 81 at-bats. The stay in the minors may not last long as team president Dick Williams told reporters that they expect to see Schebler back in the majors soon. The team also recalled left-hander Cody Reed to help shore up their bullpen after using their relievers extensively over the past few games. Reed had a 3.21 ERA in at Triple-A Louisville this season.

Scott Schebler Out Against Braves

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Scott Schebler is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday. Phillip Ervin is in center field and is hitting seventh against Braves starting pitcher Mike Soroka. Schebler is batting just .153/.254/.271 with two home runs and five RBI on the year and could continue to lose playing time if he doesn't turn it around. Eventually, top prospect Nick Senzel is expected to be the team's center fielder. Ervin has 10 career homers in 109 games, so he's a low-upside daily selection against Soroka.

Scott Schebler Sits Against Lefty

Facing a left-handed pitcher Friday night, the Cincinnati Reds have loaded their lineup with right-handed batters. One of the casualties is outfielder Scott Schebler, who'll sit against the San Diego Padres. Matt Kemp, Jesse Winker and Yasiel Puig will fill out the outfield Friday night. The 28-year-old Schebler is batting .163 through 17 games this season, with just two home runs and five RBI.

Scott Schebler Hits First Homer

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Scott Schebler went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in his team's 7-5 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Schebler's long ball came off of Pittsburgh ace Chris Archer in the third inning. Schebler, like much of the Reds lineup, is off to a slow start this season. He is hitting just .138 with a .495 OPS, one homer, two runs and two RBI. Schebler has 47 homers over the past two seasons and is a better hitter than he has been showing early in 2019. He isn't a must-own in mixed leagues, but he is a useful extra outfielder in NL-only formats. He is off on Monday before the Reds open a home series with the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Schebler will take his swings against Miami right-hander Jose Urena, who has struggled over his first two starts of the season.

Scott Schebler Sitting Against Righty

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Scott Schebler is not in the starting lineup on Friday. Jesse Winker will slide over to center field and hit leadoff, while Matt Kemp is starting in left field and is batting fifth against Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove. Schebler is off to a brutal 1-for-20 (.050) start with eight strikeouts in his six games, so he might start losing playing time to Kemp. The Reds really need prospect Nick Senzel to get healthy and take over in center field.

Scott Schebler To Move To Left Field Next Year

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Scott Schebler made his first starts in left field this weekend as the club gets ready to shift him there full time in 2019. Outfielder Jesse Winker appears to be more comfortable in right field, so he will play there next season. The throws are obviously a little easier, which helps me out, Schebler said. I dont have to be quite as quick to get to the ball. As youve seen a little bit this year, Ive rushed to get some ground balls and its kind of hurt us and hurt me. Its just one of those things that its a little easier for me. Thats not true for everybody. This obviously won't change Schebler's fantasy outlook at all. He's hitting .267/.342/.461 on the year with 17 home runs and 49 RBI in 101 games. He'll be somewhat of a sleeper for his power in deep mixed leagues with a starting role in 2019.

Scott Schebler Hits Leadoff Home Run Sunday

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Scott Schebler went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Cubs. Schebler got the game started off on the right note, crushing Jose Quintana's first pitch into the center-field seats for his 17th HR of the season. The 27-year-old is now hitting .271 with 48 RBI in 382 plate appearances. With the numbers he has put up this season, Schebler definitely would have been a consistent fantasy contributor if he could have stayed healthy.
