Dodgers Bring Stephen Gonsalves Aboard On Minor-League Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent left-hander Stephen Gonsalves to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invite to spring training. The 29-year-old southpaw has thrown only 29 innings in the majors and hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2021 with the Boston Red Sox. In 2023, he appeared at four levels of the minors with the Chicago Cubs and had a bloated 5.72 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 22 walks and 44 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings pitched in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. He'll give the stacked Dodgers roster some more minor-league depth from the left side to open the 2024 campaign. Gonsalves allowed 24 runs (20 earned) while walking 24 and striking out 20 in his 29 big-league innings over 10 appearances (four starts).

Stephen Gonsalves To Start Monday

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Stephen Gonsalves has been called up and will make his major league debut on Monday against the White Sox. The left-hander is the team's No. 5 prospect. He was 12-3 with a 2.76 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and impressive 9.0 K/9 in 23 outings (22 starts) between Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Rochester this year. He's an intriguing name for those in dynasty, AL-only and deep mixed leagues down the stretch in the right matchups. The White Sox qualify as a good matchup.

Stephen Gonsalves Strikes Out Nine On Monday

Minnesota Twins pitching prospect Stephen Gonsalves continues to pitch well for Double-A Chattanooga. Gonsalves picked up his third win of the season and went five innings, allowing four hits, one run, two walks and nine strikeouts. Gonsalves now has a cool 1.77 ERA in his first four starts. The left-hander should make his big league debut this year and will be worth monitoring.

Stephen Gonsalves Has Yet To Allow A Run For Double-A Chattanooga

Minnesota Twins pitching prospect Stephen Gonsalves went four innings for Double-A Chattanooga Thursday, allowing no runs, three hits, three walks and striking out five. Gonsalves remains one of the better prospects in the game and has yet to allow a run in both of his starts over 9 1/3 innings. The left-handed 23-year-old is expected to make the big leagues at some point this year and is worthy of consideration in dynasty, AL-only and deeper mixed leagues. He owns a career 2.34 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 9.6 K/9.

Stephen Gonsalves Hoping To Emerge As Twins Fifth Starter

Minnesota Twins left-hander Stephen Gonsalves is widely regarded as the team's top pitching prospect. Heading into the season, MLB.com ranks the young lefty as the Twins' No. 3 prospect overall and top minor league pitcher. The 23-year-old was dominant in Double-A during the 2017 season, posting a 2.68 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 87 innings of work. Gonsalves has an outside shot at earning the fifth spot in the Twins rotation, although it seems more likely he will open the season in Triple-A Rochester. Even if he doesn't win a big league role out of spring training, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him make his major league debut at some point in the upcoming season. That makes him a name worth tracking, especially in dynasty leagues and AL-only formats.
