Tony Cingrani News

Tony Cingrani To Undergo Shoulder Surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani will undergo surgery on his left shoulder and will likely be out for the rest of the season. Cingrani has not pitched in a game this season and will not hit the mound for the Dodgers the entire 2019 campaign due to this surgery. Cingrani should not be owned in any fantasy formats.

Tony Cingrani Experiences Setback In Rehab

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani (shoulder) had a setback with his shoulder during a minor-league rehab appearance on Friday, according to manager Dave Roberts. The veteran reliever will have his shoulder checked out again. It's unfortunate for Cingrani, as he has been ramping up his activity and looking sharp, posting a 1-0 record, 2.45 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 7 1/3 innings in eight rehab appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He would be a nice addition to the bullpen for the Dodgers, as well as those in deeper fantasy leagues using true middle relievers, but avoid him for now.

Tony Cingrani To Miss Beginning Of The Season

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani is dealing with soreness in his left shoulder and he has been shut down. He will not be ready for Opening Day and will begin the season on the 10-day injured list. The southpaw will leave just Scott Alexander as the only left-handed specialist in the bullpen for skipper Dave Roberts to start, although Caleb Ferguson is also a potential option. Cingrani was also shut down last season due to the same issue, appearing in just 30 games with a 1-2 record and 4.76 ERA. When healthy, he can be a boon to those in 5x5 leagues which use true middle relievers, as he struck out 36 batters in just 22 2/3 innings, but avoid him for now.

Tony Cingrani Throwing Bullpen Session on Monday

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani (shoulder) is throwing a bullpen session on Monday. Cingrani has been sidelined for roughly a month with a strained left shoulder. It's unclear when he'll be back in the bullpen, but throwing a bullpen session is good news. He belongs on the waiver wire in all leagues right now.

Tony Cingrani Placed on 10-Day DL

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list on Thursday. The team recalled reliever Pedro Baez to replace Cingrani on the active roster. Cingrani's velocity has been down this season and he's clearly struggled during his first 28 outings in 2018. Cingrani can be left on the waiver wire in all leagues.

Tony Cingrani Exits Game Wednesday With Shoulder Discomfort

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani exited Wednesday's game after complaining of shoulder discomfort. He faced only one batter in the eighth inning, issuing a walk before talking to a Dodgers trainer. Cingrani spent time on the DL earlier this season with a shoulder injury, so fantasy owners should monitor his situation closely in the coming days. The 28-year-old has an uninspiring 4.84 ERA but 11 holds and 36 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings pitched, so he does present some fantasy value. However, that could change if he needs to spend more time on the DL.

Tony Cingrani Could Be Activated From DL On Saturday

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register is reporting that Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Tony Cingrani (shoulder) threw a 40-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday and is on track to be activated off the disabled list on Saturday. He was placed there last week with "left shoulder inflammation," and Saturday marks the first day he is eligible to return, which is a great sign. The lefty middle reliever owns a rough 5.79 ERA but has electric strikeout stuff (22 K's in 14 innings pitched). He's not in the mix for saves, but could help with holds, strikeouts and K/9. We also think his ratios will improve if he can stay healthy.

Tony Cingrani Has "Dead Arm"

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Tony Cingrani has "dead arm", according to Dave Roberts. That would certainly explain why Cingrani was lit up in Friday night's game against the Giants. He was tagged for the loss after giving up four ER in 1/3 of an inning. Coming into the game in the seventh, he immediately walked Brandon Crawford and his velocity was noticeably off. It's a shame because he's been one of the few bright spots in the team's beleaguered bullpen. Before last night's debacle, he had no walks on the year and had only given up six hits, while striking out 17 in just 9 1/3 innings. The lefty will play catch on Saturday and a decision on his recovery will be made then. Players in leagues that count holds (as well as anyone who feels Kenley Jansen's reign is over) should monitor Cingrani's progress.

Tony Cingrani Throws Bullpen

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Sunday. Cingrani was sidelined for a few days with tightness in his left shoulder, but he was throwing free and easy Sunday. At this point, it looks like it was just a small bump in the road for the southpaw.

Tony Cingrani Avoids Arbitration

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tony Cingrani avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.3 million contract. It is the second time the lefty has been arbitration-eligible. Cingrani posted a 4.22 ERA over 47 relief appearances in 2017 for the Reds and Dodgers.
