Ayo Dosunmu Re-Signs with Timberwolves on Five-Year Deal

The Minnesota Timberwolves are bringing back guard Ayo Dosunmu on a reported five-year, $112 million deal that includes a player option in the fifth year, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Re-signing Dosunmu was a top priority for Minnesota, which cleared salary by trading Julius Randle to Brooklyn. The deadline acquisition broke out after arriving from Chicago, averaging 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 52.1 percent shooting in 24 games before a strong postseason that included a 43-point game against Denver. Dosunmu is an efficient two-way guard whose value climbs with Donte DiVincenzo recovering from an Achilles injury and facing a lengthy absence. That opens a path to heavy minutes next to Anthony Edwards, making Dosunmu a useful source of points, threes, assists, and steals with strong percentages.

Ayo Dosunmu May Land Big Deal From Minnesota

HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reports that the Minnesota Timberwolves want to re-sign guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu, whose market is projected north of $18 million annually and could reach the low $20 million range. The 26-year-old played his way into that bracket after carving out a useful two-way role in Minnesota's backcourt following a midseason trade from Chicago. Dosunmu averaged 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists overall in 2025-26, including 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 24 games with the Timberwolves, then delivered a 43-point playoff eruption against Denver when Minnesota needed extra shot creation. Dosunmu would still profile as a secondary option behind Anthony Edwards, but a long-term deal would point to steady minutes, defensive-stat appeal, and occasional spike scoring when the Timberwolves are short-handed.

Timberwolves Hope to Bring Back Ayo Dosunmu

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu will enter unrestricted free agency this summer, but the team hopes to bring him back, The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski reports. "Ayo's our most important free agent," Timberwolves president Tim Connelly told reporters on Tuesday. "He's a guy we thought we knew pretty well and we liked him from afar. Now seeing him day to day, we love him." The Timberwolves picked up Dosunmu in a trade with the Chicago Bulls in February. He was a great fit for the team, averaging 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steals in 28.9 minutes per game. Dosunmu's playoff run with Minnesota included a 43-point effort in Game 4 against Denver in the opening round. The 26-year-old has proven himself as a versatile fantasy contributor and still has room to develop as a player.

Ayo Dosunmu Has Busy Night in Game 5

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu enjoyed a good all-around performance in Game 5 against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, finishing a 126-97 loss with 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks. He went 50% from the field with a 7-for-14 effort but made only one of four attempts from three-point range. Dosunmu has had a productive postseason campaign, adding valuable depth to Minnesota at both ends of the floor. Across nine playoff outings, Dosunmu has posted 16.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

Ayo Dosunmu Replaces Mike Conley in Starting Unit Sunday

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu will start Game 4 against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, replacing Mike Conley. The Timberwolves are tweaking their starting lineup for a second consecutive game after bringing Anthony Edwards back into the first unit in Game 3. Given that Conley logged only 4:13 in the last game, it's not surprising to see him drop to the bench, and there's a strong possibility the veteran will fall completely out of the rotation. Dosunmu has made a positive impression in the playoffs, averaging 17.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 29.3 minutes per game.

Ayo Dosunmu Cleared to Play Friday

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu (heel) will be in the lineup on Friday night in Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs. He is ready to play through right heel pain, with the team upgrading Dosunmu's status from questionable to available. Dosunmu had a superb start to the postseason but has lost momentum since running into health issues. Injuries to Dosunmu and Anthony Edwards (knee) have led to Terrence Shannon Jr. taking on a bigger workload. He has played well and might still hold a significant role even with both Edwards and Dosunmu available on Friday night.

Ayo Dosunmu Considered Questionable for Game 3 Against Spurs

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu (heel) is listed as questionable for Friday's Game 3 tilt against the San Antonio Spurs. In Game 2 on Wednesday, Dosunmu was cleared to return from a calf injury but hurt his right heel, exiting after logging just 10 minutes. The questionable tag suggests Dosunmu could be an option for Friday's matchup. If he isn't available, Terrence Shannon Jr. and Mike Conley will continue to have expanded roles, especially if Anthony Edwards (knee) remains under a minutes restriction.

Ayo Dosunmu Exits Game 2 With Heel Issue

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu didn't complete Wednesday's Game 2 against the San Antonio Spurs due to right heel pain. He played only 10 minutes, recording one steal and one block. Dosunmu missed all four field-goal attempts. The Timberwolves had Dosunmu back in the lineup after he sat out two games with a sore calf. Unfortunately, he ran into a new health issue on Wednesday night, leaving him questionable for Game 3 and beyond. Terrence Shannon Jr. has performed well amid Minnesota's injury woes this postseason and could remain an important cog in the rotation if Dosunmu has to miss more time.

Ayo Dosunmu is Cleared to Play in Game 2

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ayo Dosunmu (calf) has been upgraded to available ahead of Wednesday's Game 2 against the San Antonio Spurs. He's back in action after missing each of the last two games due to a lingering calf injury. The return of Dosunmu is a welcoming sight for Minnesota, as he has been electric since joining the team. Terrence Shannon Jr. should see a reduced role after playing over 30 minutes in each of the last two games. Shannon won't be an appealing DFS option with Dosunmu back in the rotation for Wednesday's game.

Ayo Dosunmu Listed as Questionable Wednesday

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Ayo Dosunmu (calf) is questionable for Wednesday's Game 2 against San Antonio after missing two straight playoff contests with right calf soreness. His return would give Minnesota another perimeter defender and secondary creator, but it would likely cut into Terrence Shannon Jr.'s workload after Shannon logged 35 minutes in back-to-back games and posted 16 points and five rebounds in Game 1. Dosunmu carries some DFS risk if active, especially with Anthony Edwards (knee) also questionable, while Shannon remains the main beneficiary if Dosunmu sits again.
