LaMelo Ball News
Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball (ankle) suffered a fractured right ankle Monday against the Detroit Pistons and will be out indefinitely. Ball looked visibly hobbled after a non-contact injury and x-rays revealed the fracture, likely ending his season. With Ball out for the foreseeable future, Dennis Smith Jr. should be a priority add for most fantasy leagues. As a starter this season, Smith has averaged 10.0 points, 6.8 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 30.9 minutes per game.
Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball recorded his fifth consecutive double-double on Friday against Minnesota and this time with rebounds, adding 10 boards to a game-high 32 points in a 121-113 win. He came two assists short of a second consecutive triple-double and had two steals in the game with three turnovers in 40 minutes. Ball hit 5-for-9 from deep and was 11-for-21 from the field overall with his shot attempts. Charlotte's young star has finally been able to enjoy an injury-free run, last missing a game on Jan. 24, and we have seen his full potential again. Ball finished last month with a triple-double and is averaging 24.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists for February.
Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball recorded his third triple-double of the year in Wednesday night's 120-110 win over the San Antonio Spurs. In 39 minutes, Ball logged 28 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal. The 21-year-old shot 10-for-26 from the field, 5-for-15 from deep and a perfect 3-for-3 from the line. With the departure of Mason Plumlee, the Hornets new starting center Mark Williams has been very productive. Williams logged 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in 30 minutes. Somehow, Williams is only rostered in 10.9 percent of ESPN leagues. Williams has recorded 24-plus fantasy points in three of his last four games, and he should be considered a viable streaming option in all formats and a solid waiver addition.
Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball thoroughly enjoyed his battle with Trae Young and the Hawks on Monday, guiding the team to a 144-138 victory with a game-high 30 points and 15 assists. He was also able to collect six rebounds and shot an outstanding 6-for-10 from downtown with a 12-for-19 overall record from the field. Ball has hit top gear lately, going on a run of three consecutive double-doubles. He matched his career high with 15 assists on Monday and it was his fifth 30-point effort of the season. Ball should be around the same numbers again in the next matchup against the Spurs, who have one of the poorest defensive records in the league against points guards and who are also giving up the ninth-most assists to the position.
