Duop Reath, Blazers Agree On Three-Year Deal

Portland Trail Blazers center Duop Reath is getting converted to a standard NBA contract from his two-way deal on Friday. The 27-year-old rookie agreed to a three-year deal with the team after posting averages of 8.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.4 made threes, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor and 38.5% from beyond the arc. Reath went undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft after he finished up his last two years of college eligibility at LSU. The young big man from Sudan posted solid performances in the summer league and received his first contract from the Blazers right before the season started. Now that he has proven to be a serviceable backup big, he cashed in on a new contract.

Duop Reath On Track To Return Tuesday

Portland Trail Blazers center Duop Reath (knee) looks ready to return to the court on Tuesday versus Minnesota, as the team has listed him as probable for the game. The 27-year-old rookie has been sidelined for two games with a right knee problem. Reath has done well for the Trail Blazers in 2023-24. However, with Deandre Ayton back in the fold, it's going to be difficult for him to provide value to fantasy managers. Tuesday's matchup is also uncomfortable for Portland's bigs - only three teams have allowed fewer points to centers this season, and the Timberwolves are giving up the fewest rebounds per 48 minutes to the position.

Duop Reath Unavailable On Saturday

Portland Trail Blazers center Duop Reath (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Saturday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. This marks the second game in a row that Reath will miss due to right knee tendinitis. His absence won't make a huge impact with Deandre Ayton (illness) cleared to play. Ayton should see a bulk of the playing time at the center spot. Jabari Walker and Ibou Badji should help fill out the rest of the reserve minutes. Walker is the much better streaming option between the two players.

Duop Reath Tagged As Questionable Wednesday

Portland Trail Blazers center Duop Reath (back) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's encounter with the Mavericks. The 27-year-old has sat out three games with a lower back issue. However, it looks like there's a good chance he returns on Wednesday, as Reath has previously carried a doubtful tag. Reath isn't a household name, but he had a 25-point outing against Sacramento in his last outing, and the 27-year-old rookie averaged 10.3 points with 4.3 rebounds across December. He's currently in a prime position to perform, with Deandre Ayton (knee) absent from the team. It's also worth noting that meetings with Dallas tend to be fruitful for centers, as only seven teams are allowing more points per 48 minutes to opposing ones. The Mavericks are also giving up the fifth-most rebounds to the position.
