Luka Doncic Ruled Out on Thursday Due to a Personal Matter

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (personal) won't play on Thursday versus the Toronto Raptors. The 2018 No. 3 overall pick is playing at an MVP level, averaging a career-high 35.3 points with 8.9 assists and 8.9 rebounds. His next chance to suit up will be on Friday in Boston. However, with Marcus Smart (back) also ruled out on Thursday, Gabe Vincent may handle most of the work at the point, giving him streaming value for at least one game. LeBron James, averaging only 15.2 points in his five appearances, should also take on more of the ball-handling duties, potentially increasing his usage and scoring opportunities.

Luka Doncic Available Wednesday

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Luka Doncic (leg) will be available for Wednesday's matchup against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. The team has not included Doncic on the injury report. Doncic missed Monday's contest against the Portland Trail Blazers as the Lakers completed a back-to-back. The Slovenian superstar has been spectacular to start the year, averaging 41.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists. On Wednesday, Doncic will face the Association's second-most efficient defense, but teams seldom contain him. In Sunday's meeting with the Miami Heat, Doncic shot below 41 percent from the field but still produced a triple-double with a 29-11-10 line.

Luka Doncic Sitting Out On Monday

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (leg) will be sidelined on Monday night when the team faces the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers will also be without guard Austin Reaves (right groin soreness). Forward LeBron James (sciatica) and guard Gabe Vincent (ankle) remain out, while center Deandre Ayton (back spasms) is questionable. Los Angeles appears to be punting the second half of a back-to-back. Marcus Smart should handle most of the ball-handling responsibilities, while Bronny James and possibly Nick Smith Jr. could be involved. Jake LaRavia and Rui Hachimura will be tasked with picking up the scoring slack.

Luka Doncic Returns Against Grizzlies

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (leg, finger) has been officially cleared for Friday's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. Lakers head coach JJ Redick said that he would be "mindful" of Doncic's minutes during the game, but he can still make a massive impact even with limited playing time. Additionally, the Lakers will have Marcus Smart (quadriceps) back in the lineup, which will likely reduce the minutes for players like Dalton Knecht and Jake LaRavia.

Luka Doncic Upgraded to Probable Ahead of Friday's Matchup

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (finger) has been upgraded to probable ahead of Friday's matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies. Doncic had missed the last three games while recovering from a left finger sprain and lower left leg contusion. Doncic is averaging 46 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 8.5 assists through his first two games. With Marcus Smart (quadriceps) also likely returning, the Lakers will look to improve on their 3-2 record.

Luka Doncic Participates in Shootaround, Remains Questionable

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (finger, leg) participated in the team's shootaround on Friday morning ahead of their NBA Cup matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies. The superstar is still listed as questionable right now, but the fact that he participated is a good sign. Fantasy managers will want to stay tuned until tip-off gets closer. As a backup plan, Jake LaRavia and Dalton Knecht should both be available in most leagues. In their last game, LaRavia dropped 27 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block, while Knecht chipped in 15 points, one rebound, one assist, two blocks, and one steal.

Luka Doncic Listed as Questionable for Friday

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (finger, leg) has been listed as questionable for Friday's contest against the Memphis Grizzlies. Following a three-game absence, Doncic is on the cusp of returning, and his comeback might happen in Friday's matchup. On Wednesday, Lakers head coach JJ Redick told reporters that he expected Doncic to be back in the "next couple of games." Before he was hurt, Doncic had a couple of monster games to start the season, averaging 46.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 8.5 assists. His return is bound to have a negative impact on Austin Reaves, but he will continue to have a big role on offense, especially with LeBron James (sciatica) still out.

Luka Doncic Expected to Return in "Next Couple of Games"

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (finger, leg) is on track to rejoin the lineup in the "next couple of games," ESPN's Dave McMenamin reports. The Slovenian superstar has been out for three games due to injuries to his finger and leg. During Doncic's absence, Austin Reaves has been a monster offensively. Meanwhile, players like Jake LaRavia and Dalton Knecht have experienced additional usage due to the Lakers' many injuries. Doncic is scheduled for a re-evaluation this weekend, and Sunday's game against the Miami Heat could mark his return.

Luka Doncic Out at Least a Week

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (finger, leg) won't play on Sunday versus the Sacramento Kings. In addition, he'll miss upcoming games against the Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Memphis Grizzlies because of a sprained left finger along with a lower left leg contusion. Doncic will be reevaluated in seven days, so there's a chance he may be out longer. The 26-year-old has looked fantastic, averaging 46.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.0 steals in the first two contests of the 2025 campaign. It's possible the Lakers are being overly cautious with Doncic, considering he's battled multiple injuries throughout his career. With LeBron James (back) also sidelined, the team will likely turn to Austin Reaves to pick things up on the scoring end. Rui Hachimura, Deandre Ayton, Jake LaRavia, and Gabe Vincent may also see an uptick in production sporadically while Doncic is on the shelf.

Luka Doncic Dealing with a Finger Injury

Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (finger) is questionable to play in Sunday's game in Sacramento. The 2018 No. 3 overall pick has been on a roll, most recently amassing 49 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in Friday's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He sustained a sprained finger in that one. Fortunately, it's on his non-shooting hand. Of course, with Doncic's injury history, the Lakers will presumably play it safe in an attempt to keep him healthy for the bulk of the 2025 campaign, so there's a chance he won't be out there on Sunday night. If that's the case, Gabe Vincent may spend more time at the one, with Jake LaRavia or Marcus Smart entering the starting lineup. However, it will likely be Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and Deandre Ayton benefiting the most on the scoring end if Doncic doesn't suit up.
