Zach Collins News
San Antonio Spurs center Zach Collins recently signed a three-year, $22 million deal with the club. However, due to Collins' injury history, only a portion of the contract ($10.675 million) is guaranteed. The 23-year-old played sparingly throughout his four seasons in Portland because of a nagging foot issue, so there is plenty of risk associated with him as a fantasy option. Nonetheless, while most managers will look past Collins in upcoming fantasy drafts, he has the potential to make some noise this season, especially on the glass, if he can gain some minutes and remain healthy.
Portland Trail Blazers forward Zach Collins is expected to enter free agency during the offseason. With the organization not anticipated to tender a qualifying offer, the three-year pro could draw interest from teams looking to fill a void. However, his health has been an issue, with a left foot injury relegating him to just 11 games over the previous two seasons. If the 23-year-old can stay ailment-free moving ahead, he has fantasy value, primarily on the glass. Fantasy managers in category leagues should keep Collins in mind, especially when he is ready to make a return, whenever or wherever that may be.
Portland Trail Blazers power forward/center Zach Collins (ankle) does not have a timetable to return to action after undergoing ankle surgery to repair a stress fracture. Having started all 11 games that he appeared in for Portland last year before injuries struck, Collins' ascension into a nightly double-double threat has been put on hold. With the Trail Blazers firmly secure in the frontcourt with a quartet of Robert Covington, Carmelo Anthony, Jusuf Nurkic, and Enes Kanter, the extended absence for Collins won't be a pressing concern. Still just 23 years old, Collins will have to crack the rotation upon his return, although when that will be remains to be determined.
Portland Trail Blazers center Zach Collins (ankle) is set to undergo season-ending surgery. The MRI revealed a left ankle Malleolar stress reaction, which means Collins is forced to undergo a procedure to repair the issue. He only played in 11 games this season due to injuries. Wenyen Gabriel, Hassan Whiteside, and Jusuf Nurkic will see more playing time with Collins done for the season. Both Whiteside and Nurkic should be fairly reliable DFS options going forward. A timetable for Collins will be known after he undergoes the surgery.
