Norman Powell Has Changed His Approach

Toronto Raptors guard/forward Norman Powell said that he changed his mental approach this season. The biggest difference for him from last season has been his mental approach to the game. Powell spends more time looking at tape and focusing on off-ball defense than he did last season. It has helped him on the stat sheet as Powell has reached elite levels with a 62.9 TS% this season. Powell was playing close to 30 minutes per game for the Raptors this season even when the team was healthy. Hopefully this new approach will help Powell continue to grow as a basketball player.

Norman Powell Suffers Ankle Injury Versus Jazz

Toronto Raptors shooting guard/small forward Norman Powell just can't seem to catch a break as he exited Monday's game against the Jazz just two minutes into the contest with an ankle injury. Powell collided with teammate OG Anunoby and was helped back to the locker room. Powell had been on a tear as of late and was named Eastern Conference Player Of The Week after averaging 31.3 points last week. The Raptors do not play again until Saturday, so owners can hope that Powell's injury is not too serious. If he does miss some time, the minutes could go directly to Fred Vanvleet (shoulder) who could return for Saturday's tilt against the Pistons.

Norman Powell Nets Career-High 37 Points

Toronto Raptors guard Norman Powell spoiled Steph Curry's return with a career-high 37 points on Thursday night. In a 121-113 win, Powell played 38 minutes and added three rebounds, three steals, and two assists to go along with his scoring production. He went 13-for-20 from the field, 4-for-8 from three, and a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe on a night to remember for the 26-year old. He is averaging 27.2 points per game since he returned from a fractured finger that cost him nine games. His production will likely take a hit when Fred Vanvleet returns, but for now, Powell is a must-start player in all formats.
