Zach LaVine Optimistic About Kings' Season

Sacramento Kings guard/forward Zach LaVine said his offseason is going well and that he is excited about the team's younger group, according to Logan Struck of Sports Illustrated. LaVine also touched on his leadership role, saying he already texted rookie guard Darius Acuff Jr. and plans to connect with more of Sacramento's young players closer to camp. The two-time All-Star picked up his $49 million player option this summer after hand surgery ended his season at 39 games. LaVine averaged 19.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 39.0 percent from three. He should have scoring volume if healthy, but Acuff's arrival and Domantas Sabonis' playmaking keep LaVine more valuable for points and threes than assists.

Kings May Showcase Zach LaVine

Sacramento Kings guard/forward Zach LaVine should remain a featured part of the offense rather than ceding minutes to younger players like Nique Clifford and Emanuel Sharp, former Kings coach and executive Jerry Reynolds told Frankie Cartoscelli of Sactown Sports. Reynolds' logic is that strong production could rebuild LaVine's trade value before the deadline, while his $49 million expiring deal can simply come off the books after the season. LaVine, 31, exercised that player option after right-hand surgery ended his 2025-26 campaign at 19.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 39.0 percent from three across 39 games. For fantasy, a showcase role would protect his points-and-threes appeal, though the injury recovery, youth movement, and possible trade keep some risk attached.

Zach LaVine Could Seek Midseason Buyout

Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine is viewed by NBA insider Evan Sidery as a likely midseason buyout candidate if the rebuilding Kings start slowly. LaVine's $49 million expiring contract still carries negative trade value, making a release the cleaner path to a contender if Sacramento decides to move on. There have been no active buyout talks, but Sidery notes LaVine and Klutch Sports could eventually push for one. The two-time All-Star averaged 19.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 39 games last season before right hand surgery ended his year. For fantasy, LaVine still offers points and threes when healthy, but managers need a signing and a defined role before treating him as more than a wait-and-see scorer.

Zach LaVine Opts For Pay Day, Remains With Sacramento

Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine has opted into his $49 million player option for the upcoming season, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The decision was a no-brainer for the 31-year-old, who wouldn't command anything financially close to that number on the open market. LaVine scored 19.2 points per game last season, his lowest average since the 2017-2018 season. He also only appeared in 39 games, undergoing surgery on his shooting hand before the All-Star break. LaVine, alongside veterans DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis, should be openly available for trade as the Kings attempt a franchise reset. Still, the market for LaVine doesn't appear to be there.

Zach LaVine to Undergo Season-Ending Hand Surgery

According to Chris Haynes, Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine (hand) will undergo season-ending surgery on his hand. LaVine missed the last three games before the All-Star break due to this issue. It appears to be more serious than they expected, and now LaVine won't suit up during the second half of the season. In 39 games, LaVine averaged 19.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 31.4 minutes per game. He has a player option worth nearly $50 million for the 2026-2027 campaign. It's almost guaranteed that LaVine will accept that option, but the Kings might attempt to trade him in the off-season. In the meantime, Nique Clifford should remain in the starting five for the rest of the season. The rookie guard has been inconsistent as a scoring option, but is worth rostering in certain formats with LaVine no longer in the picture.

Zach LaVine to Miss Third Consecutive Game

Sacramento Kings guard/forward Zach LaVine (finger) will be held out for a third consecutive game on Wednesday versus the Utah Jazz. Health issues have plagued LaVine all season, and he is currently nursing a finger injury. With Russell Westbrook (ankle) and Malik Monk (illness) also missing from the backcourt rotation, Devin Carter, Nique Clifford, and Daeqwon Plowden have larger roles. Carter is the safest fantasy option among the three players, though Clifford demonstrated his ability to get hot with a career-high 30 points against Cleveland on Saturday.

Zach LaVine Out Monday

Sacramento Kings guard/forward Zach LaVine (finger) won't play on Monday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Due to a sore finger, LaVine missed the second leg of a back-to-back on Saturday against Cleveland and will now be out for a second consecutive contest. Sacramento has also lost Malik Monk (illness) and De'Andre Hunter (eye), boosting the fantasy value of Nique Clifford, Daeqwon Plowden, and Devin Carter. All three played well on Saturday, though Clifford made the biggest impact with a career-high 30 points.

Zach LaVine Won't Play on Saturday

Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine (finger) won't play on Saturday versus Cleveland. He was ruled out because of a sore finger, although he may just be simply sitting out the second of a back-to-back to rest. With Domantas Sabonis (back) and De'Andre Hunter (eye) also unavailable, DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook are the favorites to lead the team in scoring, at least on paper. However, there's just as good of a chance that guys like Nique Clifford, Maxime Raynaud, Devin Carter, and Dylan Cardwell could be more productive.

Zach LaVine Coming Off the Bench Thursday, Dennis Schroder Starts

Sacramento Kings guard/forward Zach LaVine (back) will come off the bench in Thursday's matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. LaVine is back in the lineup following a two-game absence, and he was expected to reclaim his starting position from Nique Clifford. Clifford, however, keeps his place with the starters and will open the game alongside Dennis Schroder, DeMar DeRozan, Precious Achiuwa, and Domantas Sabonis. Schroder is filling in for Russell Westbrook (foot). LaVine last came off the bench in two games during the 2023-24 campaign.

Zach LaVine Returns From Two-Game Absence

Sacramento Kings guard/forward Zach LaVine (back) is not listed on the injury report for Thursday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The former dunk champion is set to return to the lineup after missing two contests due to a back issue. Nique Clifford started in his absence and will return to a bench role on Thursday night. LaVine has not been a good fit in Sacramento, averaging 19.5 points and a career-low 2.3 assists per game this season. In January, he has been limited to 18.0 points per game despite shooting 43.3 percent from downtown.
