Malik Monk Available on the Trade Market

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk has been made available ahead of the trade deadline, according to the latest reports from Chris B Haynes of NBA on Prime. Monk has fallen out of the rotation for the Kings as they try to go younger in the backcourt, but he still would be an interesting addition to a team's bench. The 27-year-old was runner-up for Sixth Man of the Year in 2023-24 and averaged 17.2 points, 5.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 31.6 minutes per game last year in 65 games (45 starts) for the Kings. This year, he has played 24 games and averaged 12.5 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.0 rebounds. Monk will likely continue to be a non-factor for fantasy until he is traded, but once he is moved, he could end up in a great spot with plenty to offer, depending on his landing spot.

Malik Monk Could Miss Another Game Friday

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk may sit out a second consecutive game on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as the team considers him questionable for the contest. Monk is experiencing soreness in his left ankle and could miss his fourth game already this month. If Monk can't play on Friday, Russell Westbrook and Keon Ellis are likely to receive additional run-outs. Rookie Nique Clifford may also figure more in the plans of Kings head coach Doug Christie, especially after a string of ugly losses.

Malik Monk Won't Suit Up on Saturday

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (personal) will be unavailable for Saturday's matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Monk will be missing in action for the first time this season due to a personal issue. Through five games this campaign, the 27-year-old has averaged 15.6 points, 1.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals during 25.2 minutes per contest. While Monk is out, Russell Westbrook and Keon Ellis are expected to provide stability in the backcourt for Saturday's game.

Malik Monk Available Wednesday

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (calf) is available for Wednesday's preseason opener against the Toronto Raptors, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports. Monk missed the end of the 2024-25 regular season with a calf injury but seems to be back at 100 percent. The team announced that all players are available for Wednesday's contest. After dropping to the second unit for the final stretch of last season, Monk will compete to regain his starting position during the preseason. He faces strong competition from Dennis Schroder, who was picked up from the Detroit Pistons in July via a sign-and-trade deal.

Kings "Not Actively Engaged" in Trade Discussions Involving Malik Monk

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Sacramento Kings "are not actively engaged" in trade discussions involving guard Malik Monk. Earlier this summer, Sacramento explored "various trade scenarios" surrounding Monk. However, it appears the team is set on having him on the roster come opening night. The 27-year-old averaged a career-high 17.2 points last season. Unfortunately, he was limited to 65 games due to injury. With that in mind, Monk should be considered a starting option in any fantasy setup, even if he comes off the bench for the Kings throughout the 2025 campaign. Of course, his 32.5% shooting from deep last season will need to improve before he earns more attention from category managers.

Malik Monk Could Move Away From Sacramento

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk finds his name in trade rumors just a year into a four-year, $78 million contract extension. Sources told HoopsHype that the Kings have "gauged" the trade market for Monk and fellow guard Devin Carter. Monk had a career year with the Kings in 2024-25, averaging 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. However, with the newly appointed general manager, Scott Perry, reportedly active in trade talks, no one appears safe in Sacramento. Monk has been a microwave scorer off the bench for most of his career. But this season, he proved he can perform well as a starter and should remain a valuable fantasy contributor even if he changes teams in the summer.

Malik Monk Unavailable For Play-In Tournament

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (calf) will not feature in this week's Play-In Tournament. The 27-year-old missed the final three regular-season games due to a left calf strain and is still working his way back from the injury. He was ruled out for two weeks on April 9, meaning Sacramento will also have to begin its playoff campaign without Monk if the team manages to extend the season. Monk's absence has given Devin Carter a role in the regular rotation. However, the 23-year-old rookie has not provided much from a fantasy perspective, averaging 5.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists across the three games that Monk has missed.

Malik Monk Out Against Nuggets

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's tilt against the Denver Nuggets. He injured his left calf on Monday against the Detroit Pistons and could be done for the rest of the regular season. Monk's early exit on Monday gave Devin Carter a spot in the rotation. He finished with seven points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 22 minutes. Carter will likely get a bump in minutes again on Wednesday night, but fantasy managers should not get too excited about this, as the 23-year-old struggled to fill the box score against the Pistons.

Malik Monk Good To Go Versus Portland

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (illness) will return from a three-game absence on Thursday against the Trail Blazers. Sacramento has lost four-straight contests, so the Kings need to get it together if the team hopes to remain in the Play-In conversation. Fortunately, Monk, who has averaged a career-high 18.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.0 steals, will be back on the floor. However, his return means Keon Ellis, combining for 46 points in the last three games, will head back to the bench.

Malik Monk Iffy For Thursday's Game

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (illness) is listed as questionable for Thursday's contest against the Portland Trail Blazers. He has missed three games due to an illness, and it's uncertain whether Monk will be able to return on Thursday. Keon Ellis has delivered impressive performances as Monk's replacement in the starting lineup, averaging 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.0 steals. He will remain an intriguing fantasy option on Thursday if Monk is not feeling well enough to play.
