AJ McCarron News
Among the quarterbacks working out for the New York Giants on Tuesday is AJ McCarron, according to sources. McCarron was with the Buffalo Bills in 2018, so he has a connection to head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen. Although there's optimism that Daniel Jones (ankle) can play in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers in London, the Giants have to make backup plans with backup Tyrod Taylor in the concussion protocol. If neither Jones nor Taylor are cleared to play this weekend, there's a chance that McCarron could start against Green Bay if the Giants end up signing him off the street. The 32-year-old is fully recovered from a torn ACL that ended his 2021 season prematurely.
The Cleveland Browns are working out free-agent quarterbacks this week, including veterans AJ McCarron and Josh Rosen, according to sources. The Browns are looking to go to training camp with four QBs, with Jacoby Brissett set to be the starter, depending on what happens with Deshaun Watson's status. Behind Watson and Brissett, the Browns also have Joshua Dobbs, but Cleveland would like to bring in one more signal-caller to give them more depth at the position with Watson facing a potentially lengthy suspension in 2022. Rosen, a former first-round pick, went 2-for-11 with two interceptions as Matt Ryan's backup with the Atlanta Falcons in 2021. McCarron signed with Atlanta last offseason before missing the entire season with a torn ACL.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback AJ McCarron (knee) will miss the rest of the year. The veteran signal-caller suffered a torn ACL during Saturday's preseason matchup against the Dolphins. While the team was hopeful that the injury wasn't severe, it now appears as if Feleipe Franks will ascend the depth chart. However, the team will likely be in the market for another backup, although nobody will be relevant from a fantasy perspective unless Matt Ryan were to miss time this season.
