Alex Collins Passes Away

The Baltimore Ravens announced the passing of former running back Alex Collins on Monday night. The 28-year-old had some notable performances for the Seahawks and Ravens over the years. In five seasons with both clubs, he amassed nearly 2,000 rushing yards off 483 touches. Collins also found the end zone 19 times and accumulated 467 receiving yards. The cause of death hasn't been made public. Everyone at RotoBaller would like to express our condolences to Collins' family during this difficult time.

Alex Collins Goes On Injured Reserve

The Seattle Seahawks placed running back Alex Collins (abdomen) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday and activated cornerback Bless Austin from the Reserve/COVID-19 list in a corresponding move. Seattle also signed running back Josh Johnson to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Even when Collins was the team's primary running back following Chris Carson's season-ending neck injury, he didn't do a whole lot with his opportunity and was more of a low-upside RB3/flex. The 27-year-old will finish his season with 108 carries for 411 yards (3.8 yards per carry) and two touchdowns while adding nine catches on 10 targets for 87 yards in 11 games. Rashaad Penny, who had another big game in Week 17, will finish off the year as Seattle's featured back.

Alex Collins Ruled Out In Week 17

Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins (abdomen), who came into the Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions as questionable, has been ruled out for Sunday's game. Collins hasn't been valuable to fantasy managers in a while. Rashaad Penny has become Seattle's lead back and will have a pristine matchup against a poor Lions rush defense in Week 17. Behind Penny, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer will be battling for backfield touches, although neither one of them has any kind of standalone fantasy value in a Seahawks offense that has been very inconsistent in the second half of the season. When healthy, Collins might actually be the No. 4 Seahawks RB at this point.

Alex Collins A Healthy Scratch Against Bears

Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins is a healthy scratch for the Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears. Collins missed last week while on the COVID-19 list, and now he's the odd man out in this mediocre Seattle backfield. Rashaad Penny has been the team's leading ball-carrier in the last two weeks, and that should remain the case on Sunday against Chicago, although DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer are likely to mix in as change-of-pace options. At best, Penny should be considered a low-end RB2 in fantasy lineups. Collins was initially the Seahawks lead back when Chris Carson (neck) went down with a season-ending injury, but he was completely ineffective in the role. Collins shouldn't be on any rosters in redraft leagues to close out the season.

Alex Collins Will Be Available In Week 16

Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins (abdomen) doesn't carry an injury designation into the Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears after putting in limited practices all week. Collins missed the Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams while on the COVID-19 list and is no longer the lead RB in this backfield. Rashaad Penny has been Seattle's primary option the last two weeks, although DeeJay Dallas scored the team's only touchdown on Tuesday. Collins played 23% of the offensive snaps and handled seven carries for 16 yards in Week 14 with Penny taking over. He's averaged a measly 3.8 yards per carry on 108 rushing attempts on the year and is no longer on the fantasy radar.

Alex Collins Limited Again Thursday

Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins (abdomen) was limited in practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Collins missed the Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams while on the COVID-19 list, but he's back now and seems likely to be active in Week 16 against the Chicago Bears. The 27-year-old will most likely return to a complementary backfield role behind Rashaad Penny, who has been Seattle's lead back each of the last two games. Collins wasn't productive at all when he was seeing the majority of backfield touches earlier this year, and he's averaged a weak 3.8 yards per carry on 108 rushing attempts in 11 games this season. Penny is the only back worth considering for starting lineups on this Seahawks team at the moment.

Alex Collins Listed As Limited Wednesday

Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins (abdomen) was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list and was listed as limited on Wednesday's estimated practice report. Collins should be healthy enough to play on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, but there's no guarantee he'll see that much work behind Rashaad Penny and DeeJay Dallas, who scored Seattle's lone touchdown in the Tuesday night loss to the Los Angeles Rams. In his last two games, Collins has exactly seven carries and has gained a combined 30 yards on the ground (2.14 yards per carry). Even when Collins was serving as the team's primary back, he wasn't productive for desperate fantasy managers. He's averaging 3.8 yards per carry on 108 rushing attempts in 2021. Stay away from Collins.

Alex Collins Activated, Will Dissly To COVID-19 List

The Seattle Seahawks activated running back Alex Collins from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday and placed tight end Will Dissly on the list in a corresponding move. Collins missed Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Rams, but he'll be available to play this Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Collins saw some time as the team's lead back when Chris Carson (neck) landed on Injured Reserve, but since then, Rashaad Penny has earned more touches, and DeeJay Dallas was Seattle's most productive back in the Week 15 loss. Penny has seen double-digit carries in the last three games and should be the best bet for fantasy production in this wildly mediocre backfield for another week. Collins will remain on the waiver wire in most leagues. Dissly has 20 catches for 223 yards and a TD this year but remains off the fantasy radar behind Gerald Everett.

Alex Collins Won't Play Against Rams

Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins didn't test out of the COVID-19 protocols and is officially out on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Rams to close out Week 15 action. Collins tested positive for the virus last Thursday, but it didn't matter that the game was rescheduled from Sunday to Tuesday. Even if Collins had tested negative and been cleared, he likely wouldn't have had a big enough role in the backfield to have standalone fantasy value. Rashaad Penny ran for over 100 yards and two touchdowns in Week 14 against the Houston Texans and has earned lead-back duties for at least another week. Unless the Seahawks add Adrian Peterson to the active roster for Tuesday's game, it will be only Penny and DeeJay Dallas as the RBs against LA.

Seahawks Put Alex Collins On COVID-19 List

Seattle Seahawks running back Alex Collins was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday, making it likely that he'll miss this Sunday's divisional clash against the Los Angeles Rams. If Collins is vaccinated, he'll need to be asymptomatic and return two negative tests 24 hour apart in order to be cleared to play this weekend. Even before his placement on the COVID-19 list, Collins had been dropped in a lot of leagues after Rashaad Penny basically took over lead-back duties last week by rushing for over 100 yards and two touchdowns. If Collins is out in Week 15, Travis Homer, who is likely to return from an injury, DeeJay Dallas and veteran Adrian Peterson could be fighting for touches behind Penny. As of right now, Penny should be the only Seattle back worth considering for a starting lineup spot in fantasy.
