The Kansas City Chiefs released linebacker Anthony Hitchens on Tuesday. Hitchens finished the 2021 regular season with 80 tackles (41 solo), four tackles for loss, one interception and two passes defensed in 15 games in his fourth season in Kansas City. In his four seasons with the Chiefs, the 29-year-old recorded 217 solo tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, one interception, two forced fumbles and two sacks in 59 games. With the move, the Chiefs will save around $8.4 million against the 2022 salary cap. Prior to joining KC, Hitchens played four seasons for the Dallas Cowboys to begin his career.
The Kansas City Chiefs plan to sign free-agent linebacker Anthony Hitchens to a deal worth $9 million per season, according to sources. Hitchens fills a specific need inside for the Chiefs defense. He was able to rack up a career-high 84 combined tackles in 2017 and should be useful in IDP leagues next season in KC.
Anthony Hitchens "Looking Forward" to Playing on Thursday
Dallas Cowboys middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens (groin) has said he is, "playing and [...] looking forward to it" on Thanksgiving. Hitchens had to leave Sunday's game due to a groin injury, but luckily it's a "slight strain." Hitchens isn't a sure thing for Thursday just yet, but he's certainly trending in the right direction. With Sean Lee (hamstring) already confirmed to be out, the Dallas defense needs Hitchens in there on Thursday.
