The Arizona Cardinals placed cornerback Antonio Hamilton (foot) on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list on Thursday following a cooking accident in his home, according to sources. He'll miss at least the first four games of the regular season as a result. Hamilton suffered severe burns on his feet and will now be sidelined early in the year. The 29-year-old had a career-high 38 tackles (31 solo), four passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 17 regular season games (two starts) in his first year in Arizona in 2021. Hamilton has 88 tackles (71 solo) and nine passes defensed in his six NFL seasons with the Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs.
The Arizona Cardinals are signing cornerback Antonio Hamilton from the practice squad to their active roster on Tuesday, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Hamilton was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the end of training camp after he mainly played special teams for the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants the last two seasons. He was active in the first three weeks of the season for Arizona and mostly played on special teams, recording six tackles (five solo), a pass defensed and one fumble recovery. The 28-year-old will continue to be a presence on special teams and offer the Cardinals defensive back depth.
Kansas City Chiefs free-agent cornerback Antonio Hamilton is visiting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday. Hamilton will try out for the team during their rookie minicamp this weekend. The 28-year-old played 24 snaps on special teams in the Super Bowl against Tampa in February. If signed by the Bucs, he'd be competing for the fifth cornerback job and a special teams role. Hamilton was one of the highest-graded runners in the NFL after the 2019 season, and he played the second-most special teams snaps (330) for the Chiefs last year. In his five years in the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants and Chiefs, Hamilton has 50 tackles (40 solo) and five passes defensed in 57 games (two starts).
