Bradley McDougald, Clayton Geathers Sign With Titans
The Tennessee Titans signed free agent defensive backs Bradley McDougald and Clayton Geathers on Monday. The Titans waived tight end Deon Yelder, defensive back Reggie Floyd and punter James Smith in a corresponding move. McDougald was limited to seven games in 2020 due to a shoulder injury. The 30-year-old racked up 36 tackles (23 solos, 13 assists) with a fumble recovery for the New York Jets last season. He will give the Titans safety depth and a veteran presence in the locker room. Geathers opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. The 29-year-old racked up 54 tackles (40 solos, 14 assists) and one interception for the Colts in 2019. Geathers and McDougald will compete for roster spots in the Titans' defensive backfield.
Seattle Seahawks strong safety Bradley McDougald comes in at No. 8 on NFL.com's Nick Shook's top-10 coverage men from the 2019 season. His coverage success rate of 62 percent really stands out. Only three other players on Shook's list -- Justin Simmons (65.9 percent), J.C. Jackson (65.5) and Eddie Jackson (62.8) had better success rates than McDougald last year. He also allowed a passer rating of just 54.4 when targeted and a tight-window percentage of 12. The 29-year-old has really started to come on the last two years with Seattle. McDougald had 70 tackles (52 solo), two interceptions, half a sack and a fumble recovery in 2019. He won't be an every-week starter in IDP leagues, but he might be worth a look when you need a bye-week replacement.
Seattle Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald took a page out of Richard Sherman's playbook by making a game-saving interception in the end zone. McDougald's move of tipping the ball up and gathering it for himself was reminiscent of Sherman's famous play against the 49ers in 2014, and the move likely kept Seattle's playoff hopes alive once again. The Seahawks defense was gashed by Carolina's offense for most of the day, but timely plays like McDougald's interception and some stellar third-down stops helped Seattle bring home the victory.
Seattle Seahawks safety Bradley McDougald was the star on defense against the Denver Broncos in Week 1. McDougald snagged a pair of picks in the game, and returned one of those 39 yards to help set up a critical Seahawks touchdown. McDougald has solidified his spot as the teams starting strong safety, and hell be trying to fill big shoes after the team lost former All-Pro Kam Chancellor to a career-ending neck injury last year. McDougald will be one of the headliners of a revamped Seattle defense that looked good in their first game of the season.
Seattle Seahawks defensive back Bradley McDougald is set to be a free agent and the Seahawks are expected to re-sign McDougald. McDougald had a solid first year as the starter opposite Earl Thomas in Seattle. He can play both safety spots and should not cost much to re-sign. McDougald will likely face preseason competition from Delano Hill and Tedric Thompson.
