Dan Arnold, Brandon Marshall Are Healthy Scratches
New Orleans Saints tight end Dan Arnold and wide receiver Brandon Marshall are healthy scratches for Week 14 against the Buccaneers. Arnold had been used more of late over Benjamin Watson as the pass-catching tight end and scored his first touchdown of the year on Nov. 22 against the Falcons. Watson should have a bigger role in an excellent matchup against Tampa on Sunday, but he's still more of a TE2. Marshall has yet to play for the Saints after being signed about a month ago.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandon Marshall was signed three weeks ago to provide a veteran presence in the passing game but has not played yet for the team. Marshall has been inactive for two straight weeks and has been seen on the sidelines wearing a headset during games. The veteran told reporters that he listening to the calls on offense and is running a "mock game in his head". Injuries to Ted Ginn, Cameron Meredith and then Dez Bryant have opened the door for Marshall to be on the team but hasn't cracked the lineup yet. Teammate Tre'Quan Smith was limited in practice on Monday and if he cannot go Marshall may get his shot. If he does, fantasy owners would be best to stay away until he produces on the field.
Brandon Marshall Inactive For Second Game With Saints
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandon Marshall was a surprise inactive for the second straight game as the Saints took care of the Falcons 31-17 on Thanksgiving. The veteran receiver was signed via free agency two weeks ago to supplement the Saints passing game but has not suited up for the team yet. It could simply be an issue of trying to get up to speed on offense but it certainly was a surprise to see the Saints activate unknown receivers Keith Kirkwood, Austin Carr and Tommylee Lewis instead. Fantasy owners that rushed to the waiver wire to pick up Marshall would be wise to cut bait and look elsewhere to catch lightning in a bottle this late in the season.
Brandon Marshall Not Worth A Fantasy Add For Week 11
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandon Marshall is in line to make his debut with the team in Week 11 against the Eagles. The former Pro Bowl receiver was released by the Seahawks earlier this season and now is tasked with becoming a complementary piece in a white-hot Saints offense. Marshall's reputation may precede him in fantasy circles this week as he prepares to go up against an Eagles defense that is allowing the fifth most fantasy points to receivers this season. Expectations should be lowered for a veteran who may only see a couple of targets per game right out of the gate.
Brandon Marshall Signs One-Year Deal With The Saints
The New Orleans Saints signed wide receiver Brandon Marshall to a one-year contract on Monday morning. This was a transaction that most people expected after Dez Bryant(Achilles) suffered an unfortunate injury earlier in the week. Marshall appeared in six games with the Seattle Seahawks this season and was relatively underwhelming. While Bryant had some intriguing fantasy upside, Marshall seems pretty spent at this point of his career. He is not a fantasy option in shallow leagues.
The Seattle Seahawks released veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall on Tuesday, according to a source. Marshall entered the year as one of the team's better receivers with Doug Baldwin slowed by a knee injury, but he quickly faded when Baldwin returned, and David Moore's emergence has made Marshall expendable. Marshall had 11 catches on 23 targets for 136 yards and a touchdown in his six games. He can be dropped in any leagues where you were hanging onto him.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Brandon Marshall seems to be slowing down and turning into a bit of a tight end for the Seahawks. Marshall initially led the team in targets at the start of the season, and it looked like his big frame may play well outside. Unfortunately, as the weeks have worn on, he's looked slower and struggled to get open while Tyler Lockett has stepped into the primary role. Now with Doug Baldwin back in the everyday lineup, Marshall's role will probably be more similar to how it was against Arizona when he only caught one pass for five yards. In the red zone, his size may still allow him to win some jump balls, but otherwise, he's likely an afterthought now.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Brandon Marshall seemed comfortable in his role as the team's No. 2 wide receiver on Monday night. Marshall ceded primary duty to Tyler Lockett while Doug Baldwin (knee) remains out, and he worked well as an outlet during Russell Wilson's scramble drills. Marshall is obviously past his prime and won't carry the team, but his size and skillset makes him a nice alternative to the smaller and quicker options like Lockett and Baldwin. Expect Marshall's number to get called plenty of times in the red zone this year as he acts more like a tight end than a wideout.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Brandon Marshall may not have the speed and athleticism he did when he was younger, but he's still bringing plenty of experience and craftiness along with great hands and size. Those are things that will keep him in the mix in the red zone without a problem. With the team losing Doug Baldwin for a couple weeks to a knee injury, Marshall will take an even more central role in the passing game. Expect him to be one of the primary targets on third downs and when Russell Wilson is looking for the end zone. Marshall could quietly become one of the most valuable receivers in the league.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Brandon Marshall was thought to be over the hill by the majority of the NFL, but it looks like Seattle intends on getting plenty of mileage out of the 34-year-old. Marshall led the team in targets in Week 1 with six, and his three catches included a critical touchdown grab on a long third down scramble drill. With Seattle losing big tight end Jimmy Graham over the offseason and No. 1 receiver Doug Baldwin leaving the game early with a knee injury, Marshall looks like he should help lead the Seahawks receiving corps moving forward.
