Jacksonville Jaguars right guard Brandon Scherff (ankle) is questionable to return against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon. The star lineman has played almost every offensive snap since recovering from an ankle injury back in Week 1. Until Scherff can return, Blake Hance should see a significant uptick in snaps.

Brandon Scherff Will Play Against Chiefs
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told local reporters that right guard Brandon Scherff (ankle) and center Luke Fortner (ankle) will play in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. It's great news for the Jaguars' interior offensive line against Pro Bowl defensive tackle Chris Jones, who will be making his 2023 debut after a lengthy training camp holdout that caused him to miss the Week 1 loss against the Detroit Lions last Thursday night. Scherff sprained his ankle in the Week 1 victory over the Indianapolis Colts but won't have to miss any time. His presence on Sunday is good news for the entire Jacksonville offense as the team looks to go 2-0 to begin the year.

Brandon Scherff Misses Tuesday's Practice
Jacksonville Jaguars offensive guard Brandon Scherff (abdomen) was unable to participate during Tuesday's practice. The veteran guard was likely just given a rest day, so nobody should panic yet. He was limited all of last week due to the same issue, which is a bit concerning. The Jaguars are likely to take this day-by-day, so there should be more updates on his status over the next few days. Luke Fortner (back) is also on the injury report, so the Jaguars could be shorthanded for their upcoming playoff matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brandon Scherff Intends To Sign With Jaguars
Former Washington Commanders Pro Bowl offensive guard Brandon Scherff intends to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a source. Scherff was a first-round pick (fifth overall) by Washington in 2015 out of Iowa, and he's been a key cog on their offensive line ever since. Scherff is a five-time Pro Bowler, including in each of the last three seasons, so he'll be an immediate upgrade for the Jaguars offensive line as they look to protect second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence better. Scherff played in only 11 games in 2021, but when healthy, he remains one of the better blocking guards in the NFL.

Brandon Scherff Drawing Plenty Of Interest
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets are the three teams showing the most interest in free-agent offensive guard Brandon Scherff, according to sources. Scherff is not expected to re-sign with the Washington Commanders. The 30-year-old has spent his entire seven-year career in Washington, but he figures to go elsewhere for the 2022 season and beyond. Scherff is a five-time Pro Bowler, including each of the last three seasons, although he's dealt with injuries in recent years. He was also named to the first-team All-Pro team in 2020. When healthy, he's been one of the better blocking guards in the NFL.

Brandon Scherff Unlikely To Return
Washington Commanders impending free-agent offensive guard Brandon Scherff is unlikely to return to the team in 2022 for an eighth season. Scherff received the franchise tag in each of the last two years, and the five-time Pro Bowler would receive a 44% increase on last year's $18.04 million salary if Washington tagged him a third time. The former first-rounder's injury history and prohibitive cost likely mean he'll be moving on this offseason. The 30-year-old has been a Pro Bowler each of the last three seasons, but he played in only 11 games in 2021 and has never played in a full season in his seven NFL campaigns in D.C.

Brandon Scherff Activated From COVID-19 List
The Washington Football Team activated right guard Brandon Scherff, linebacker Cole Holcomb and center Tyler Larsen from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday. Larsen, who is dealing with an Achilles injury, was transferred to Injured Reserve. Scherff missed the last two games and has missed six games overall this year, but Washington's offensive line will get a boost with his return heading into a Week 17 date with the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles. Holcomb has 120 tackles, two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), two forced fumbles, a sack and a fumble recovery in 14 starts for the Washington defense in 2021.

Brandon Scherff Going On COVID-19 List
Washington Football Team All-Pro offensive guard Brandon Scherff will go on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday, according to sources. Scherff will be ineligible to play in the rescheduled game against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday. Washington's projected offensive line with Scherff sidelined will be Charles Leno at left tackle, Ereck Flowers at left guard, Keith Ismael at center, Saahdiq Charles at right guard and rookie Samuel Cosmi at right tackle. Cosmi is on Injured Reserve but is scheduled to be activated in time to play on Tuesday. The loss of Scherff is a big one against Philadelphia, especially if neither quarterback Taylor Heinicke nor Kyle Allen can test out of the COVID protocols in time to play Tuesday. Washington's offense could be forced to start the recently signed Garrett Gilbert under center.

Brandon Scherff Returns For Washington
Washington Football Team All-Pro offensive guard Brandon Scherff (knee) is returning in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from a knee strain. In the last three seasons, Washington has gone 0-12 in Scherff's absence, so getting him back on Sunday will be a huge boost for the offense. The 29-year-old was initially injured in the Week 4 win over the Atlanta Falcons, and he's been out ever since. In addition to Scherff, Washington will also be getting cornerback William Jackson III (knee) back on Sunday after he missed the last two games with a knee issue. If Washington can also get right tackle Sam Cosmi (ankle) back, their offensive line will be in a much better position to slow down Tampa's strong defensive line.

Brandon Scherff Likely Out 2-3 Weeks
Washington Football Team Pro Bowl offensive guard Brandon Scherff (knee) suffered a sprained MCL in the Week 4 win over the Atlanta Falcons and is likely to miss two to three weeks, according to a source. It's bad news for Washington's offensive line, but the good news is that Scherff could avoid a trip to Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss at least three weeks. With Scherff sidelined, Saahdiq Charles is the leading candidate to fill in as the team's starting right guard. This will be a downgrade for both quarterback Taylor Heinicke and Washington's ground game moving forward.
