Brent Grimes Playing Against Steelers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Brent Grimes (groin) is active in Week 3 against the Steelers on Monday night. His presence is good news for a beat up secondary that will try to slow down Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and All-Pro receiver Antonio Brown. Rookie running back Ronald Jones III remains a healthy scratch, while rookie defensive tackle Vita Vea (calf) will all miss his third straight game. Jones is still well behind starter Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers on the depth chart. He's only a dynasty stash for the time being. Vea has returned to practice, so he could be looking at making his NFL debut in a week or two.

Brent Grimes and Vita Vea Return to Practice Thursday

Buccaneers cornerback Brent Grimes (groin) and defensive tackle Vita Vea (foot) participated in practice on Thursday. This is the first time all week both have practiced and it's a positive sign towards them playing on Monday against the Steelers. Grimes had been dealing with a groin issue since Week 1 and Vea has been missing since the preseason due to his foot injury. There will likely be some rust on Vea since he's been out so long but he should still be an immediate impact player if given play time Monday. An adjustment period is to be expected with rookies. Grimes will be a big boost to the secondary if cleared to play. The Buccaneers lost former first-round cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III to season-ending shoulder surgery last week and have been desperate for help on the back end. The Steelers have too much talent to be stymied by the Bucs' defense, but surely there will be a small hit on the overall offense if these starters are healthy.

Brent Grimes Says He'll Play On Monday

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Brent Grimes (groin) said he will return to practice on Thursday and will play in Week 3 on Monday against the Steelers for the first time this season if everything goes as planned. Tampa's secondary has been very vulnerable to begin the season, so hopefully Grimes' return can help them slow down opposing passing offenses. It won't be easy against Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wideout Antonio Brown, even if Grimes makes his season debut.

Brent Grimes, Vita Vea Ruled Out

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Brent Grimes (groin) and rookie defensive tackle Vita Vea (calf) didn't practice on Friday and have been ruled out for Week 2 against the Eagles. With both Grimes and Vernon Hargreaves out, life will be much easier for Eagles quarterback Nick Foles and his receivers. Wideout Nelson Agholor is pretty much a must-start, while deep threat Mike Wallace might be worth a flex play for his boom potential over the top. Vea has yet to make his NFL debut, and there's no timetable for his return at this point. The Bucs defense should be avoided at all costs.

Brent Grimes Doubtful for Week 1

Buccaneers cornerback Brent Grimes (groin) is officially doubtful for Sunday's game against the Saints. Grimes is a late addition to the injury report after straining his groin in Friday's practice. The veteran corner is probably the only talented player in the entire starting secondary and his a major blow to any chance the Bucs' defense had of covering the Saints' talented receiving core. Although game-script might swing in favor of the Saints' run game, Drew Brees, Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr., and Cameron Meredith get a bump going into Sunday.
