The Miami Dolphins claimed quarterback Bryce Petty off waivers from the Jets on Friday, according to a source. The fourth-round pick in 2015 has looked overmatched in his limited action in the NFL. In parts of 10 games for New York the last two years, Petty has four touchdowns and 10 interceptions with a 53.1 completion percentage. With Brock Osweiler and David Fales backing up Ryan Tannehill, Petty will have to prove he's worth a roster spot in training camp. Even if he makes the team, he'll be well off the fantasy radar.
The New York Jets are releasing quarterback Bryce Petty on Thursday, according to a source. After being drafted in the fourth round in 2015, Petty has played in parts of just 10 games for Gang Green, sporting a 53.1 completion percentage with four touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He's looked overwhelmed on the football field and isn't close to being starter-caliber. Petty could latch on with a team in need of QB depth, but he's well off the fantasy radar and always has been.
Other teams are contacting the New York Jets about possibly trading for quarterback Bryce Petty, according to sources. The Jets are now much more open to dealing Petty after selecting quarterback Sam Darnold at third overall in the first round Thursday. Petty hasn't resembled anything close to an NFL-caliber passer in his first two seasons. He has completed just 53.1 percent of his passes while throwing four touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 10 games. Petty's NFL future looks bleak at this point.
New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty has now had plenty of chances at showing what he has at the NFL level, and its safe to say he is simply not starting material. Making the start in Gang Greens final game of the 2017 season, we saw what weve seen most of the time out of Petty -- ineptitude. Petty completed 19 passes on 36 attempts for 232 yards (6.4 yards per attempt) with no turnovers or interceptions. As usual, Petty was wildly inaccurate all day, but somehow avoided throwing any interceptions. With the Jets likely to acquire a young quarterback this offseason and a good chance they bring back quarterback Josh McCownback as a mentor, Petty is either looking at theNo. 3 spot on the Jets depth chart next year (assuming the Jets also cut Christian Hackenberg), or will be on someone elses roster.
Robby Anderson Again Can’t Get Much Going With Bryce Petty
For a good portion of the season, fantasy owners of New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson looked to be riding the young wide receiver to the promised land. When quarterback Josh McCown went down and was replaced by Bryce Petty, however, that all changed. Anderson has been invisible since the quarterback change, and while Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers was his best output, it still wasnt much. Anderson was targeted seven times, catching five of them for 51 yards without a score. This type of line should be expected with Petty under center, unfortunately. While Anderson isnt totally a must-bench, we wouldnt advise playing him if you have your league championship in Week 17 when the Jets take on the New England Patriots.
New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty has now had plenty of chances at the NFL level with Gang Green, and each seems to be even worse than the last. In a 14-7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16, Petty was horrid, as expected. He completed 15 passes on 28 attempts for 119 yards, making for an incredibly pathetic 4.3 yards per attempt with no scores and one interception. He had an ideal opportunity to tie the game with a few minutes left, but of course badly threw inside when an outside throw would have done the job. No matter what type of league youre in, Petty is not worth a roster spot.
New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty is getting another start on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, and in all likelihood it will simply be another demonstration of why Petty is not suitable as an NFL starter. Petty was dreadful against the Saints in Week 15, completing less than half of his 39 pass attempts for only 179 yards and two interceptions. The Chargers are pretty good in their own right against opposing quarterbacks, surrendering only 12.87 fantasy points per game to opposing signal callers in four-point touchdown scoring formats. As if it wasnt obvious enough, Petty shouldnt even be utilized in two-quarterback leagues in what is likely your championship game.
Robby Anderson Fails To Get Going With Bryce Petty
As we told you earlier this week, New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson first broke out when quarterback Bryce Petty was under center for Gang Green in 2016. As such, there seemingly wasnt too much to worry about for Anderson with Petty making his first start in relief of the injured Josh McCown. Unfortunately, it looks as though the 2016 connection we saw between Anderson and Petty isnt going to pick up where it left off. Anderson was targeted a team-high 12 times, bringing only five of them in for 40 yards. Not exactly what we were hoping for. While Anderson was a great play down the stretch this season, hes not a recommended play for your championship in Week 16 when the Jets take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
Making his first start in place of the injured Josh McCown, New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty was completely off the fantasy radar for a reason. Hes even further off the radar after the Jets 31-19 loss to New Orleans in Week 15. Petty finished 19-for-39 for 179 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. In case you didnt do the math, thats a pathetic 4.6 yards per attempt. Petty is simply not a very good NFL quarterback and isnt much of an option, even in two-quarterback leagues when the Jets take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16.
New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty will be making his fifth career start on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, and hopefully for the sake of the entire fantasy football community (except your opponent), he will still have zero starts on your fantasy team. Petty has shown about as close to zero as you possibly can, albeit in a small sample size. Hes completed 54.2 percent of his career pass attempts for a putrid 117.6 yards per game to go along with three touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Saints defense has already been pretty solid against opposing quarterbacks this year, allowing the 13th fewest fantasy points to the position, but we get the feeling that ranking is going to improve come Week 15.
