New England Patriots wide receiver Cameron Meredith will have a long road to travel in hopes of contributing to the Patriots offense in 2019. Meredith has struggled to stay on the field the past two seasons after tearing his ACL in 2017. The wideout played for the Saints last season but eventually was let go and picked up by the Patriots. New England's receiving position is a bit in flux right now but the impending return of Josh Gordon should certainly help matters. Meredith is simply trying to make the final roster and is currently not fantasy viable.
The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Cameron Meredith, who was released by the Saints earlier in the week. Meredith has been placed on the team's active/PUP list while he recovers from a knee injury, but he's expected to be healthy and ready to go when the regular season arrives. Meredith should make this Patriots roster based on the lack of depth the team has, and if N'Keal Harry struggles early, Meredith could develop a small role on the team. It probably won't be a fantasy relevant role, but keep an eye on him.
On Monday, the New Orleans Saints released wide receiver Cameron Meredith. Meredith was working his way back from a knee injury and was already facing an uphill battle to make the team, but the emergence of rookie Emmanuel Butler made that an even harder task for Meredith. He'll now try to find another team, but the days of Meredith being a fantasy relevant wide receiver may be over. The path for Butler to get meaningful snaps for the Saints has opened up, though.
Cameron Meredith Practices At Start Of Training Camp
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Cameron Meredith (knee) sat out New Orleans' earlier offseason activities, but he was on the field Friday as the team started training camp. That's good news for Meredith, who isn't a lock to make New Orleans' final roster and needs all the on-field time he can get in training camp and the preseason. If he's healthy, Meredith could be useful as a third or fourth receiver, either in New Orleans or elsewhere, but as of right now he's not someone to target in fantasy leagues.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Cameron Meredith (knee) said it's the same knee injury that he dealt with last year that kept him sidelined for organized team activities and minicamp this year. However, he's mostly just being smart with it so that he can have a healthy training camp. Meredith had a breakout year in 2016 with the Bears but then missed all of 2017 with his knee injury and played in only six games with the Saints in 2018, catching nine passes for 114 yards and a touchdown as a complete non-factor. If he doesn't prove his health this summer, Meredith is in danger of not making the final roster.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Cameron Meredith (knee) is not practicing on Thursday at organized team activities. Hes on the sideline, but they say probably next week he can do a little bit more, wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson said. "But he looks healthy. He looks good. He looks like hes coming along well. Meredith played in only six games in his first year with New Orleans before he landed on Injured Reserve. He also missed all of 2017 with a knee ailment in Chicago. It's not a good sign that Meredith isn't practicing yet, and he won't be on the fantasy radar going into fall drafts.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Cameron Meredith (knee) will be placed on Injured Reserve and will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee, according to head coach Sean Payton. Meredith will have a "clean-up" surgery on the knee because he had been fighting through swelling each week. Payton said the wideout is expected to make a "full recovery." He missed the entire 2017 season with the Bears after he tore his left ACL during the preseason. Meredith had zero targets in the last three games for the Saints. His injury partially explains why the Saints signed Dez Bryant this week. Meredith will finish the year with nine catches for 114 yards and a touchdown. While Bryant has the opportunity to become the No. 3 wideout in New Orleans with both Meredith and Ginn on IR, it's not even a lock that he'll play in Week 10 against the Bengals after signing on Wednesday. Bryant has WR3 upside to close out there year, but he'll be a risk/reward fantasy commodity after a long layoff from playing.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Cameron Meredith (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. It doesn't seem as though Meredith's knee is 100 percent yet after he missed all of last season. He seemed to be turning the corner when he caught all five of his passes for 71 yards on Oct. 8, but since then he has gone without a catch on zero targets in the last three games. With the Saints signing Dez Bryant this week, Meredith's chances of making an impact late in the season went way down. You can leave him to the waiver wire if you were still holding out hope.
Michael Thomas, Cameron Meredith Put In Full Practice
New Orleans Saints wide receivers Michael Thomas (shoulder) and Cameron Meredith (knee) were both full participants in practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. Both will play in Week 9 against the Rams. Thomas has slowed down a bit of late but has big-time WR1 upside in an expected shootout. Meredith is third behind Thomas and rookie Tre'Quan Smith and hasn't been targeted in the last two games. While he could break out, fantasy owners won't be betting on it.
Michael Thomas, Cameron Meredith Limited In Practice
New Orleans Saints wide receivers Michael Thomas (shoulder) and Cameron Meredith (knee) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. It's a new injury for Thomas, but one that shouldn't keep him out in a potential shootout with the undefeated Rams in Week 9. He hasn't had double-digit catches or targets since Sept. 23, but that could easily change this weekend. Meredith continues to be eased along in practice after missing all of last year with a knee injury, but he should be fine for Week 9. His role looked to be growing until he failed to register a catch or target in the last two games. Meredith can only go up from here, but he's behind both Thomas and rookie Tre'Quan Smith in the pecking order.
