The New York Jets waived quarterback Chris Streveler (thumb) on Monday after he suffered a right-thumb injury during training camp. There's a chance that Streveler will revert to the Jets roster if he isn't claimed by another team off waivers. If he remains with the Jets, Streveler will be buried on the QB depth chart behind Aaron Rodgers, Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle. The 28-year-old has played in nine games (one start) in his three seasons in the NFL and has gone 27-for-40 for 231 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He made his only start of his career to this point for the Jets last season.

Mike White (ribs) is returning as the starter this weekend and veteran Joe Flacco will back him up, so Streveler would be the No. 3 QB on the active roster if he's called back up from the practice squad. The Jets continue to say that Wilson remains part of the future, but most folks believe his time in New York is coming to an end.

Wilson looked flat throughout the entire time that he was on the field and made some questionable decisions like throwing into triple coverage. Jets fans let the boos rain down and then Chris Streveler entered the game with a little less than four minutes in the third. Streveler led the Jets on an 83-yard drive which was more than any of the team's previous drives with Wilson.

Streveler, 27, has seen action in seven games in the last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, completing 68 percent of his 25 attempts for 141 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The 27-year-old completed 24-of-33 passing attempts for 277 yards with five touchdowns and one interception during the preseason. Sadly, the Jets don't have room on their roster with Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, and Mike White already there. Streveler is well deserving of a backup spot elsewhere, but he's not expected to have fantasy value.

Streveler finished last season on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, and he's also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and played in the Canadian Football League for two seasons. In seven career NFL games (all with the Cardinals), the 27-year-old has gone 17-for-25 for 141 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Jacoby Brissett is set to become a free agent next month, but the Dolphins also have Tua Tagovailoa and John Lovett at the position. Streveler will provide Miami with a bit more depth at QB heading into the offseason.
