Connor McGovern News
The New York Jets have re-signed center Connor McGovern to their practice squad. McGovern, who started 55 games for the Jets from 2020 to 2023, brings valuable experience back to the team. Originally a fifth-round pick by the Broncos in 2017, McGovern spent his first three seasons in Denver before joining the Jets. Over his tenure with New York, he logged 3,055 offensive snaps, the most on the team during that period. His last game was a Week 8 victory over the Giants in 2023, where he suffered a season-ending knee injury. With 2023 second-round pick Joe Tippmann now the Jets' primary center, McGovern was not re-signed this offseason. However, with Wes Schweitzer's hand injury creating a need for a backup center, McGovern is expected to be promoted to the active roster soon.

Jets Place Connor McGovern, Wes Schweitzer On Injured Reserve
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said on Monday that the team was placing center Connor McGovern (knee) and offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer (calf) on Injured Reserve after the suffered injuries in the Week 8 overtime win over the New York Giants. The good news is both players will have a chance to return in 2023, but they'll have to sit out at least four games first. McGovern suffered a dislocated kneecap on Sunday, but there's a chance he could avoid surgery. The Jets' offensive line is a bit vulnerable right now with McGovern, Schweitzer and Joe Tippmann (quadriceps) all injured. Heading into a Week 9 clash against the Los Angeles Chargers next Monday night, Xavier Newman is expected to start at center.

Connor McGovern Suffers Dislocated Kneecap
New York Jets center Connor McGovern (knee) suffered a dislocated kneecap in the Week 8 win over the New York Giants, according to sources. The good news is that there's a chance that he won't need surgery. McGovern will get a second opinion and is considered week-to-week as of now. The 30-year-old didn't suffer a season-ending injury, but it's a good bet that he will miss some time and won't be available in Week 9 to face the Los Angeles Chargers. The Jets offensive line is pretty banged up right now with Joe Tippmann (thigh) and Wes Schweitzer (calf) also injured. Xavier Newman is likely to start at center for the Jets for as long as McGovern is out.

Jets Re-Sign Connor McGovern
The New York Jets re-signed center Connor McGovern to an undisclosed deal on Monday. McGovern started all 17 games for the Jets last year and was the only player on the team to take every snap on offense (1,114) and one of only six Jets to play 1,000-plus scrimmage snaps. He played three seasons with the Denver Broncos before joining Gang Green in 2020. The former fifth-round draft pick played right guard as a rookie in Denver before switching full time to center in 2019. McGovern has played 3,055 offensive snaps in his three seasons in New York, the most on the team in that span and 32nd most in the NFL in the last three years. The 29-year-old is expected to be snapping the football to quarterback Aaron Rodgers in 2023.

Connor McGovern To Miss Rest Of The Season
New York Jets center Connor McGovern (knee) avoided an ACL injury in the Week 16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but he is going to be out for a while, according to head coach Robert Saleh. Later in the day, the Jets put him on Injured Reserve, along with tight end Trevon Wesco (knee). McGovern will seek a second opinion on his MCL injury, and it's unknown if he'll need to undergo surgery. With only two games left in the regular season, McGovern is unlikely to return this year. McGovern started all 15 games for Gang Green this year and was ranked by Pro Football Focus as the No. 10 center with a 75.8 grade. His absence to close out the year will be bad news for rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.

Jets Signing Connor McGovern
The New York Jets are signing former Denver Broncos center Connor McGovern to a three-year, $27 million deal on Tuesday, according to a source. The deal includes $18 million in guarantees. McGovern was drafted in the sixth round by the Denver Broncos and has made 36 starts in his 47 games played over the last three seasons. The Jets are trying to improve their weak offensive line, but they've so far made some underwhelming moves in free agency as they whiff on some of their targets. Look for them to continue working to improve their line to give help to quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Le'Veon Bell.
