The Seattle Seahawks re-signed cornerback Damarious Randall to an undisclosed deal on Friday. The plan is for Randall to move back to cornerback, the position he played in the first three seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers. The first-rounder out of Arizona State in 2015 was a safety in college but was moved to cornerback in his rookie season, starting 30 of 39 games while recording 10 interceptions, 32 passes defensed and 144 tackles in his first three seasons. He made the move back to safety when he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2018. Randall spent training camp with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 and then signed to Seattle's practice squad in September. He played in 10 games for the Seahawks last year but mostly played on special teams.
The Las Vegas Raiders are releasing veteran safety Damarious Randall on Friday, according to sources. The team owes Randall a $1.5 million fully guaranteed base salary, but that figure will be reduced by whatever he receives from his new team. The 28-year-old former first-round pick of the Packers lost out on a starting safety job in training camp. He had 61 tackles, 2.5 sacks and six passes defensed in 11 games for the Browns in 2019. Randall also recorded a career-high 85 tackles, four interceptions and nine passes defensed in his first year with Cleveland in 2018. He should land on his feet as safety depth with another organization.
The Las Vegas Raiders signed safety Damarious Randall to a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million, according to a source. It comes just after a deal for cornerback Eli Apple fell apart. Randall, a first-round pick by the Packers in 2015, had the first 2.5 sacks of his career for the Browns in 11 games last year, also recording 61 tackles (45 solo) and three QB hits. The 2019 season was the only one in his five years that he didn't record an interception, as Randall has 14 career picks in 65 games (56 starts). He'll help shore up the secondary alongside Johnathan Abram in Las Vegas.
Cleveland Browns safety Damarious Randall has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Steelers due to a coaching decision. Whatever the real reason may be, Cleveland's secondary will be weaker in this divisional tilt on Sunday. However, it remains to be seen if Steelers quarterback Devlin Hodges can take advantage while also missing starting running back James Conner (shoulder) and No. 1 wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee). The Browns Defense isn't as strong as it once was without pass-rusher Myles Garrett (suspension) the rest of the way, but they're still on the low end of the streaming radar this weekend against a Steelers offense without all of their best weapons.
Cleveland Browns free safety Damarious Randall (concussion) came in with concussion symptoms on Saturday and has been ruled out for Monday night against the Jets. Randall's absence is a downgrade to the team's secondary, but it might not matter with the Browns taking on Jets backup Trevor Siemian in Week 2. Despite Randall's absence, the Browns Defense is still worth plugging into lineups as a low-end fantasy defense on Monday night.
Cleveland Browns cornerback Damarious Randall (heel) is active for Week 5 against the Ravens. Randall has been a turnover machine for the Browns so far this year, and he'll help try to slow down Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, who has been playing like a man on a mission through four weeks so far in 2018.
Cleveland Browns safety Damarious Randall (heel), who suffered a badly bruised heel on Sept. 16 against the Saints, has been effective while playing hurt. He has only taken part in one practice and was limited since getting hurt. Despite that, he was the highest ranked safety at Pro Football Focus in Week 4 and has yet to miss a tackle. He has allowed a passer rating of 52.6 when targeted this year. Randall has 19 tackles, two interceptions, six passes defensed and a fumble recovery through four weeks. He's a big reason why Cleveland's defense is on the rise. Head coach Hue Jackson said Randall won't make his injury worse by playing on it.
Cleveland Browns defensive back Damarious Randall is expected to switch to his college position of free safety, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal. Randall was a cornerback for Green Bay, but as evidenced by his trade to Cleveland, Randall was never particularly effective at corner in Green Bay. He had chances both on the outside or in the slot for Green Bay. It is still possible the Browns end up keeping Randall at his NFL position after an offseason of experimenting at safety.
Packers Trade Damarious Randall for Backup Quarterback
Ian Rapoport has reported that the Green Bay Packers have traded cornerback Damarious Randall for Cleveland Browns quarterback DeShone Kizer. Kizer was a second-round draft pick of the Browns in 2017 who started 15 games last year. His play was very disappointing, throwing 22 interceptions with only 11 touchdowns. An athletic, physical and competitive player, Randall was arguably Green Bays best cornerback last year. However, he was very inconsistent and there was evidence that he clashed with the coaching staff. The trade comes after disappointing play from Green Bay quarterback Brett Hundley, who started in the absence of injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers last year. Green Bay will treat the 22-year-old Kizer as a backup in the short term, but may view him as an eventual successor to Rodgers. Kizer is as physically gifted as any quarterback in the NFL, but he left college too early and remains incredibly raw. While he is fast and agile, he is very inaccurate when throwing on the run. A lot of pressure is being put on the recently maligned McCarthy quarterback school to develop Kizer. Furthermore, this is a sign that Green Bay has likely given up on Hundley and will look to trade him soon. It is also a sign that Green Bay is looking to sign a big-name free-agent cornerback. Kizer should not be owned, even in dynasty formats, and there is no reason to consider Hundley in any fantasy scenario.
