Damien Williams News
The Atlanta Falcons have signed free-agent running back Damien Williams. The veteran back will get a one-year deal and a chance at legitimate playing time in Atlanta. Cordarrelle Patterson is still a free agent, so currently Williams moves into the No. 1 back spot in the weak Falcons' backfield. The 29-year-old should easily jump Mike Davis and Qadree Ollison on the depth chart. Although, it's uncertain if the Falcons are done adding at running back and could still possibly bring back Patterson. Regardless, Williams should be in the mix for carries, but doesn't have a ton of upside. He has mainly been a backup throughout his career and his value is unlikely to change much going forward.
Chicago Bears running back Damien Williams (calf) put in a limited practice to begin the week on Wednesday. Williams is trying to return for the first time since Week 8, and it's notable only because lead-back David Montgomery missed practice on Wednesday with a trio of injuries. It's not a lock that Williams will be back in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, but if he is and Montgomery doesn't play, he'd operate as the No. 2 back behind rookie Khalil Herbert. Even in that scenario, though, the 29-year-old wouldn't have much standalone fantasy value. He has 37 carries on the year for 139 yards and two touchdowns in seven games, adding 11 catches for 64 yards through the air.
Chicago Bears wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (foot, ribs) and running back Damien Williams (calf) missed practice all week and have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Goodwin will miss his second straight game, while Williams hasn't played since Week 8. Goodwin is much too risky as a boom/bust WR4/flex in deeper leagues in Chicago's low-volume passing attack when he's healthy. Damiere Byrd should operate as the No. 2 receiver on Sunday with Allen Robinson II (hamstring) missing his third straight game. Darnell Mooney is the only receiver fantasy managers should trust in fantasy. Whenever Williams returns, he'll merely be the No. 3 RB behind David Montgomery and rookie Khalil Herbert.
