Danny Amendola News
Detroit Lions wide receiver Danny Amendola caught a team-high five passes for 35 yards in the Lions brutal 47-7 loss to the Buccaneers in Week 16 on Saturday. With starting quarterback Matthew Stafford(leg) exiting early with an injury, Amendola led the team in receptions and targets (seven) with backup Chase Daniel under center. The veteran receiver has failed to score a touchdown this season but is averaging 45.75 yards per game over his last four played. With the Lions quarterback situation murky heading into Week 17, Amendola's fantasy value could see a slight uptick in PPR formats. He will head into the final game of the season with 45 receptions for 594 yards.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Danny Amendola should once again benefit from the absence of Kenny Golladay (hip) on Sunday against the Packers, but he remains a tenuous fantasy option. The five targets that Amendola saw last week were the second-most that he has received since Week 2, and he is yet to find the end zone in 2020 as a receiver, displaying how infrequent of a target he is near the red zone. To make matters worse, the Packers Defense has limited opposing wide receivers to the third-fewest receiving yards in 2020. In non-PPR season-long formats, the vast majority of fantasy managers can avoid Amendola, but there is certainly a case to be made for the veteran in last-ditch scenarios. While he only hauled in two catches versus Green Bay earlier this year, he was targeted seven times, tying for the second-most balls he has seen come his way in '20.
Detroit Lions wide receivers Kenny Golladay (hip) and Danny Amendola (hip) and rookie cornerback Jeff Okudah (shoulder) have been ruled out for the Thanksgiving game on Thursday against the Texans. Golladay has been out since Week 8 and will miss his fourth straight game. With both receivers out, Mohamed Sanu was signed to the active roster, where he'll provide depth behind Marvin Jones Jr., Marvin Hall and rookie Quintez Cephus. The Lions passing attack should rely mostly on Jones and tight end T.J. Hockenson against Houston. Jones has 15 catches on 20 targets for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the last three games with Golladay sidelined. He'll be a strong WR2 for fantasy lineups on Thursday.
