Danny Amendola Calls It A Career

Despite multiple teams calling this offseason, two-time Super Bowl champion wide receiver Danny Amendola has decided to retire from professional football. "It was better than I could have ever imagined," Amendola said about his career. Amendola spent the 2021 season with the Houston Texans, catching 24 of 38 targets for 248 yards and three touchdowns in eight games (zero starts). The 36-year-old had his best season in his second year in the NFL with the Rams, going for 689 yards and three touchdowns on 85 receptions. In his five-year stint with the New England Patriots from 2013-17, Amendola had 230 catches (327 targets) for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns in 69 regular season games.

Danny Amendola Concludes Season With Two-TD Performance

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola returned to action for Sunday's defeat to the Titans, but he saved his best performance of the season for Week 18. Amendola had previously accrued just one touchdown all year -- Week 1 against Jacksonville; he finished with seven catches for 113 yards and two scores vs. Tennessee, setting season highs in each category. Amendola finishes the year with three touchdowns, his highest total since 2016, whereas his receiving yards total (248) is the lowest since that same year. Houston's passing game was a struggle for the majority of '21 with or without him on the field, but he delivered for those aggressive DFS managers that slotted him into lineups. The veteran wideout is set to become a free agent ahead of his age-37 season, having appeared for four different franchises over the past five years.

Danny Amendola Lands On Injured Reserve

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola (knee) has been placed on Injured Reserve after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery this past week. The 36-year-old is expected to miss four to six weeks. Through seven games this season, he caught 17 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown. He's not on the fantasy radar whatsoever.

Danny Amendola Undergoes Knee Surgery

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola (knee) underwent arthroscopic knee surgery this week after suffering a meniscus injury in the Week 12 win over the New York Jets, and he could miss up to four weeks. With only six weeks left in the season, it's highly plausible that the Texans just shut the 36-year-old slot man down for the rest of the 2021 season. Amendola will likely be placed on Injured Reserve on Saturday. He missed four games earlier this year with a hamstring injury but is third on the team with 29 targets. It speaks to the lack of viable options in Houston's passing attack. Brandin Cooks remains the target hog in this offense, although rookie Nico Collins should see more run down the stretch in a lost season. Collins is still a shaky WR4/flex in this low-scoring offense, but he deserves watching in deeper leagues the rest of the way.

Danny Amendola Could Miss Up To Four Weeks

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola (knee) could miss up to four weeks after suffering a knee injury in the Week 12 loss to the New York Jets. Amendola had arthroscopic surgery on the knee on Tuesday and could be a candidate to land on Injured Reserve. With only six weeks left in the season, the 36-year-old may not return again this year, depending on his recovery from the surgery. In seven games this season, the slot man has 17 catches on 29 targets for 135 yards and one touchdown. It's been a crapshoot trying to rely on any receiver for Houston not named Brandin Cooks in fantasy this year, but Amendola's injury should open up more targets for intriguing rookie Nico Collins moving forward. Chris Conley and Chris Moore are also in the picture.

Danny Amendola Sees Seven Targets

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola saw five-plus targets for the fourth time this season in Sunday's defeat at the hands of the Dolphins. Amendola ranked up a season-high 49 receiving yards- and it was encouraging to see him still operate as one of Tyrod Taylor's favorite options. Still, the veteran wideout will be more of a decent floor option in deeper leagues than anything- as any player not named Brandin Cooks has very limited upside in this offense.

Danny Amendola - Week 9 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola draws a favorable matchup against Miami. Amendola is coming off of playing a season-high 64 percent of the snaps against the Rams- indicating he is fully healthy after dealing with a leg injury. The veteran wideout has seen five targets in three of four games played this year, a solid amount of looks for a wideout in an offense slated to pay from behind often. Still, Amendola has yet to exceed the 50-yard mark this season. He's too risky to trust for fantasy purposes, even in a favorable matchup.

Danny Amendola Sees Five Targets

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola caught two of five targets for three yards in Sunday's loss to the Rams. Amendola's team was blown out of the water, down 38-0 in the fourth quarter, so it wasn't exactly a banner day for the offense. Still, the veteran wideout managed to see five targets for the third time in four games played, decent volume for someone in the Texans offense. Amendola is off the fantasy radar for now but could have some value once Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) is back under center for Houston.

Danny Amendola - Week 8 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola will take on the Rams in Week 8. Amendola returned to the lineup last week and immediately saw five targets, a number he's now hit twice in three games played. The veteran wideout has limited upside given that he plays for a struggling Texans team, though he could serve as an emergency flex play against a Rams defense that has allowed the fifth-most targets to receivers. Los Angeles could lock onto Brandin Cooks, forcing quarterback Davis Mills to look elsewhere. Amendola could have flex value in deep leagues.

Danny Amendola Cleared For Sunday

Houston Texans wide receiver Danny Amendola (thigh) has no injury designation and is good to go for Sunday's game against Arizona. Amendola has missed the last four games with a thigh injury but appears to be past the issue ahead of a matchup with a Cardinals defense that has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game to wideouts. The veteran produced a 5-34-1 line in Week 1 and could serve as an emergency bye week replacement for fantasy managers in a pinch. Just don't expect much upside from Amendola.
