David Blough a Candidate for Lions Offensive Coordinator Position

The Detroit Lions are kicking off their search for a new offensive coordinator with former Lions quarterback David Blough, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Blough worked as the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders in 2025, but he served as the QBs coach after Tavita Pritchard left to become the head coach at Stanford. Detroit let go of Johnny Morton as their offensive coordinator after just one season in the role. Blough last played in the NFL in 2023 and began his coaching career with Washington in 2024. The 30-year-old former undrafted rookie out of Purdue played in just four seasons in the NFL with Detroit and Arizona and completed 57% of his passes for 1,435 yards, six touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The Lions have high expectations for their high-scoring offense after scoring 28.3 points per game in 2025, the fifth-most in the NFL.

Bears, Jaguars, Jets Request To Interview David Blough For Offensive Staff

The Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets have requested to interview Washington Commanders assistant David Blough for their vacant quarterback coach position, while the Chicago Bears are seeking to interview him for their pass game coordinator role. Blough, a five-year NFL quarterback, was on the Detroit Lions practice squad in 2023 before joining the coaching ranks in Washington as the assistant quarterbacks coach. After the breakout rookie campaign from Jayden Daniels, it's no surprise he is drawing interest around the NFL for franchises building new staffs. The 29-year-old could make his way up the coaching ladder in short order if he excels with a potential promotion in 2025.

David Blough Leads The Cardinals To Comeback Victory

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough rallied the team to an 18-17 comeback victory against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday. Blough completed 11-for-22 pass attempts with 93 yards and one touchdown while rushing for another score. While under pressure and with eight minutes remaining in the third quarter, Blough started the come-from-behind victory by heaving a long TD pass to Davion Davis. With Kyler Murray out for the foreseeable future, the Cardinals are looking for someone to step up at quarterback. A win like this could put Blough in a position to be the team's starter for their upcoming Week 1 matchup vs. the Washington Commanders.

David Blough Could Compete For Backup Job

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough could have a chance to compete with Colt McCoy for the backup job this year. And with Kyler Murray (knee) not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, there's a chance that Blough could see some starts early in the year if he were to beat McCoy out. McCoy is also recovering from an undisclosed surgery this offseason. It's unlikely the Cardinals would add another veteran signal-caller, but they could add a young player at QB in this month's draft. Blough made two starts late last year and went 38-for-58 with 402 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The 27-year-old didn't look terrible, but he's also gone 0-7 in his career as a starter in the NFL.

David Blough Re-Signs With Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough has re-signed with the organization. Blough spent time with three different organizations last season. However, he ended the season with the Cardinals and even made two starts for the team. He completed 38-of-58 passes for 402 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in those two starts. Blough has made a total of nine appearances in his four seasons in the league. The 27-year-old is expected to compete for a spot on the 53-man roster in training camp.

David Blough Throws Two Interceptions In Loss

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough completed 14 of his 18 passing attempts for 180 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Blough was eventually replaced by Trace McSorley, who completed six of his nine attempts for 29 yards and an interception. Ultimately, neither Arizona quarterback will be on the fantasy radar to start next season, as Arizona will likely roll with Colt McCoy or another backup quarterback if Kyler Murray (torn ACL) isn't ready for Week 1 of the 2023 season.

David Blough To Start In Week 18

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough will start in Week 18 against the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran quarterback made his first start of the year against the Atlanta Falcons last week. He completed 60% of his pass attempts for 222 yards and a touchdown last week and scored 13.6 fantasy points. With Kyler Murray (knee) and Colt McCoy (concussion) unable to play, Blough will make his second consecutive start. However, fantasy players have no reason to add the veteran quarterback to their roster. The 49ers have an elite defense, while the quarterback will be without star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (knee).

David Blough Throws For 222 Yards In Loss

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough completed 24-of-40 passes in the team's Week 17 loss, totaling 222 yards and a touchdown. The inexperienced former Detroit Lion didn't turn the ball over in this one, so all in all it was a pretty solid performance considering the circumstances. He completed 15 of his first 20 pass attempts, so he cooled down in the later parts of the game as he completed just nine of his final 20 attempts. It remains to be seen if he will remain the starter in Week 18, as Colt McCoy (concussion) was held out of his second straight game this week, while Kyler Murray (knee) remains sidelined.

David Blough Not Recommended In Sixth Career Start

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough will be making his sixth career start in Week 17 against a lackluster Atlanta Falcons defense with Colt McCoy still dealing with concussion symptoms. Blough has not played at all in 2022 and will be making his first start since 2019, so even though the matchup is a good one, we don't expect much from him in real life or fantasy. The 27-year-old could also be without the team's No. 1 wideout in DeAndre Hopkins (knee), which would make his life more difficult as he tries to secure the team's fifth win over the season. He has only been with Arizona for around three weeks, but the Cardinals felt he deserved a start over Trace McSorley, who almost led the team to a win over the Buccaneers in Week 16. With fantasy titles on the line this weekend, managers should avoid Blough, even in two-QB leagues.

David Blough To Start For Cardinals, Colt McCoy Ruled Out

Arizona Cardinals quarterback David Blough will draw the start against the Atlanta Falcons, as Colt McCoy (concussion protocol) still has symptoms and Trace McSorley has apparently been benched. DeAndre Hopkins (knee) could also miss this game, so James Conner might be the only Cardinals player worth starting in fantasy football. Blough is far from the fantasy radar, but as always, some managers could be forced to start him in Superflex or two-quarterback leagues. It's worth noting Atlanta has allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
