The Las Vegas Raiders signed defensive lineman David Irving to an undisclosed deal on Thursday, according to the league's transaction wire. The former Cowboy played in just two games for the Raiders in 2020 and had four combined tackles. Prior to that in four seasons with Dallas, the 27-year-old had 36 total tackles (17 for loss), 30 QB hits, a fumble recovery and 12.5 sacks in 37 games (10 starts). Irving spent most of last season on the Raiders practice squad, but they decided to bring him back as a low-risk depth signing for their defensive line. The former Iowa State product can be ignored in IDP leagues for 2021.
Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle David Irving (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Titans on Monday, and he could be out four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain. Irving also missed the first four games of the season on suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He has just three tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss, two quarterback pressures and a pass deflection in 56 snaps in two games in 2018. Tyrone Crawford, Maliek Collins and Antwaun Woods will likely continue to rotate at tackle.
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving has returned from his four-game suspension in advance of Week 5. Irving was suspended four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. "We've all got to remember that he hasn't had his hand in the stance for 10 months. He missed the last four games of the year and he really didn't have any offseason. If he comes in and he's ready to go, he's a talent no question. But there's got to be some sort of progression for him. But he looks good, excited to be here, and we're excited to have him," defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli said. Despite missing eight games last year due to a suspension and an injury, Irving had seven sacks (second on the team). Irving has a lot of potential, but he's not an immediate addition to IDP lineups as he works his way back into the lineup.
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving was suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He won't be able to take the field until the Week 5 game against the Houston Texans. Irving failed a test and served a four-game suspension in 2017 as well. Entering a contract year, Irving was a candidate for a big-money, long-term extension, but recent reports state that the Cowboys are no longer interested in continuing the relationship beyond this season's restricted free-agent tender.
David Irving Hoping to Drop Some Weight Before Week 1
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving said he weighs 303 pounds right now, but wants to drop to around 285 pounds before the season starts. Irving went on to say he wants to get back to how he looked when he "was doing that underwear modeling and stuff. Got to get those abs back." Irving will be entering a contract year and will be trying to set himself up for a big contract extension.
David Irving Expected to Participate in Cowboys Minicamp
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving is expected to participate in Cowboys minicamp this week. Irving skipped organized team activities and other non-mandatory offseason programs because of issues he was dealing with off the field. Now that everything has seemingly been taken care of, Irving will rejoin his teammates for the first three mandatory days of the offseason. He was great in just eight games last year, but the Cowboys are hoping to see him play a full season in 2018.
David Irving Being Investigated for Domestic Violence
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving is being investigated for domestic violence. Irving was accused of domestic violence on social media, which he referred to as a "hack," but police in Frisco, Texas are taking it seriously enough to launch an investigation. Irving signed a restricted free agent tender last week, after recording seven sacks in eight games last season. Irving is potentially facing an extended suspension, but it's likely the investigation will take some time.
David Irving Expected to Sign His RFA Tender on Monday
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving will sign his restricted free agent tender today, meaning he will return to the team for another season at $2.91 million. Irving had seven sacks in eight games last season and was tendered at the second-round level by Dallas. He will become an unrestricted free agent after this coming season and could be a candidate for an extension.
Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving was tendered at a second-round level. The restricted free agent will earn $2.914 million on the tender and it should keep him in Dallas for at least one more season. He recorded seven sacks in eight games last season and should continue to be a key part of the Dallas defensive line.
The Dallas Cowboys plan to tender a contract to restricted free-agent defensive lineman David Irving. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones did not mention the level at which the team plans to tender him, but a second-round tender would reportedly be enough to keep Irving in a Cowboys uniform. Irving served a suspension and was injured last season, limiting him to eight games, but he recorded seven sacks regardless. He's a solid player and will certainly have an important spot on next year's defense.
