Larry Fitzgerald Thinks David Johnson Can Get 1,000 Rushing and 1,000 Receiving Yards
In an interview with Mike Jurecki from Arizona Sports, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald explained that he doesn't think it will be difficult for running back David Johnson to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards as well as 1,000 receiving yards. Johnson himself stated that this was a goal of his for the upcoming season and explained that he should have had this stat line last season as well. When this information is combined with the statement made by head coach Bruce Arians about giving Johnson 30 touches a game, it is clear that Johnson is not only a lock for the top three picks in virtually every draft but should be considered the favorite to be picked first overall, regardless of the format. As long as he doesn't get injured, Johnson has the ability and opportunity to repeat and exceed his stats from last year.
Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson said he thinks he could handle 30 touches a game, and he wasn't worn down at the end of last season. Johnson led the league in touches in 2016, averaging more than 23 per game. The 25-year-old was injured in the final game of the season last year, but he'll be fine for training camp and Week 1. He's one of, if not the most, talented backs in the NFL after rushing 293 times for 1,239 yards and 16 scores in 2016. He also racked up 80 catches for another four scores. Johnson is a fine bet for the first overall fantasy pick in 2017.
David Johnson Has A Stellar Year, Locked In As Top-Three Pick In 2017
David Johnson finished the year as the fifth leading rusher with 1,239 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground. He added an additional 879 yards and four TDs on the ground. It's safe to say that the Arizona offense ran through Johnson in every facet of the game. Sadly, his 2016 campaign went out with a whimper rather than a bang as he suffered an MCL sprain, knocking him out of Week 17. Still, that doesn't affect his 2017 outlook whatsoever. There is going to be plenty of fascinating debates as to whether DJ, Le'Veon Bell, or Ezekiel Elliot are worthy of the No. 1 selection in fantasy drafts. Every owner is going to be rubbing their lucky rabbit's foot for the top pick, but the truth of the matter is you can't go wrong with any of those rockstar RBs. David Johnson looks like a superstar running back for years to come.
David Johnson Looking To Snag Some MVP Votes In Finale
David Johnson would be a legitimate MVP candidate if not for Arizona's record. Instead, he'll have to go out with a bang in the season finale against the Los Angeles Rams. Currently sitting as the league's fifth leading rusher, DJ has a legit shot at claiming the second spot now that Le'Veon Bell has been ruled out. Johnson is an obvious top-two play this week at RB.
David Johnson Scores Two Touchdowns In Sunday's Loss
David Johnson's rushing totals don't exactly stand out as he had just 12 carries for 53 yards on the ground, but his overall numbers were great as always. He added four receptions for 55 yards to go along with the two touchdowns he punched in on the ground. Johnson simply just gets it done in every facet of the offense independent of game flow and opponent. He'll remain matchup-proof when the team travels to Seattle in Week 16.
David Johnson Dislocates Finger, Finishes With 161 Total Yards Anyway
David Johnson continues to dominate, racking up another 161 yards on 21 touches in Week 12. Johnson did most of his damage via the pass, hauling in eight receptions for 103 yards through the air. Similar to Le'Veon Bell, DJ might not have the most stellar numbers on the ground but it really doesn't matter. The finger injury shouldn't have any impact on his status for Week 13 against the Redskins. You can safely pencil him in as a top-three option at running back.
David Johnson Remains Top RB With Drew Stanton at QB
In a high-scoring game vs. the 49ers, RB David Johnson was extremely effective both on the ground and through the air. Johnson racked up 27 carries for 157 yards, two touchdowns, and addition to three catches for 28 yards. There's not much more to say about Johnson at this point, since he's been elite week in and week out. Johnson owners should be happy and start him every week, and almost any trade in which an owner receives Johnson would be a win for that team. The Cardinals play the Jets Monday night week 6, giving them plenty of rest, but it shouldn't matter much to Johnson, who is averaging almost 19 points in standard leagues and an amazing 23 points in PPR leagues. Before week 5, DeMarco Murray led Johnson in total points by a small margin, but without an excellent performance this week, Johnson should return to form as the #1 RB, though #2 overall isn't a bad place to be either.
