Dax Milne Placed On Injured Reserve

Washington Commanders wide receiver Dax Milne (groin) has been placed on injured reserve. He had missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, making it highly unlikely he'd be available for Week 1. Now, with his placement on IR, he's ineligible to return until Week 5 at the earliest. Milne wasn't a major contributor in the passing game, but he was expected to handle a significant special teams role as Washington's punt returner. Look for Antonio Gibson or Byron Pringle to handle punt returns in Milne's absence.

Dax Milne Has Solid Showing

Washington Football Team wide receiver Dax Milne had a solid game to close out the preseason, taking advantage of the final dress rehearsal before the start of the regular season. The 2021 seventh-round pick has impressed head coach Ron Rivera throughout training camp and has potentially done enough to make it hard for the coaching staff to keep him off the roster. The 22-year old caught three passes for 36 yards on five targets, with his longest catch of the night going for 26 yards deep down the right sideline. Another noteworthy development out of the preseason finale was Milne being ahead of DeAndre Carter for a punt return. The competition between Milne, Carter, and Isaiah Wright would likely come down to who the coaching staff feels more comfortable in returning punts, so it seems the rookie has become the favorite out of the group. Regardless if he makes the roster or not, Milne is off the fantasy radar because of the limited targets that he will be given.

Antonio Gandy-Golden, Dax Milne Battling For Roster Spot

Going into the preseason finale on Saturday night, there are a number of wide receivers fighting for a roster spot. There is believed to be one or two openings for Antonio Gandy-Golden, Dax Milne, DeAndre Carter, And Isaiah Wright. Gandy-Golden had an impressive week of practice, so he seems to have carved out a spot for himself. Milne has received high praise from head coach Ron Rivera over the past couple of weeks, so another strong showing from the rookie could make it hard for the coaching staff to leave him off the roster. Wright, Carter, and Milne are battling to be the team's punt returner, so whoever is the most impressive fielding punts on Saturday could ultimately be the factor that separates one from the others. After Terry McLaurin, Dyami Brown, and Adam Humphries exit the game, the four players on the bubble could receive the majority of snaps on Saturday.

Dax Milne Continues To Impress

Washington Football Team wide receiver Dax Milne is continuing to make a strong impression as he battles to crack the team's final roster. Head coach Ron Rivera has praised the rookie for his work ethic and competitiveness while mentioning that he loves the way the 22-year-old plays the game of football. This could indicate he is earning himself a roster spot in a loaded wide receiver room in Washington. With the release of Steven Sims Jr. on Monday, this leaves Isaiah Wright, DeAndre Carter, and Antonio Gandy-Golden left in the mix, so the final preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens will be crucial in determining who sticks around. Even if the former BYU standout makes the team, he is off the fantasy radar for the time being. There aren't enough targets to go around as he would likely be the fifth or sixth wide receiver on the depth chart.

Dax Milne Pushing For Roster Spot

Washington Football Team wide receiver Dax Milne was the second-to-last pick in the 2021 NFL draft, but the former BYU receiver has caught the eye of his new head coach, Ron Rivera. In his final collegiate season, Milne put up 70 receptions for 1,188 yards and eight touchdowns with Zach Wilson throwing him the ball. His yardage total was good for fourth-most in all of college football, trailing only Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith, Elijah Moore, and Jaelon Darden. The 22-year-old has a long way to go to crack the Washington roster, but he is giving the coaching staff a reason to keep him around with his impressive play. "He has progressed very well. He really has," Rivera said. "You see his natural route running ability showing in certain situations, circumstances." Milne will be competing with the likes of DeAndre Carter, Antonio Gandy-Golden, and potentially Steven Sims Jr. for a roster spot. Even if the rookie does crack the roster, he shouldn't be rostered in fantasy leagues.

Washington Selects Dax Milne

With the second-to-last pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Washington Football Team selected the final offensive player of this year's event, grabbing BYU wide receiver Dax Milne. Milne is a great value at this stage, having caught 70 passes for 1,188 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He's a smart receiver who should play in the slot in the NFL. Washington is a team that has room for wideouts to make the final roster, so keep an eye on Milne throughout training camp.
