Donald Parham Jr. News
Los Angeles Chargers TE Donald Parham Jr. signed his free agent tender Tuesday. He is an interesting tight-end option with plenty of potential but has not yet shown enough on the field to demand much on the open market. The 24-year-old caught 20 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games in 2021. Staying in Los Angeles is likely a good fit for both sides as Parham continues to develop in a potent passing game. While the Chargers did not re-sign Jared Cook they did add Gerald Everett to split TE duties, limiting Parham's chances for a major breakout. As with Jalen Guyton who also signed his tender, Parham is more interesting in best ball and DFS formats due to his attachment to a great offense.
The Los Angeles Chargers tendered exclusive-rights free-agent tight end Donald Parham Jr. on Friday, according to a source. Parham is expected to return to the Bolts in 2022, and he has been fully cleared from the concussion that put him on Injured Reserve to finish last season. The 24-year-old caught 20 of 27 targets for 190 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games last season. Veteran Jared Cook is headed to free agency, so there's a chance that Parham could serve as the team's top pass-catching tight end next year, depending on whether the Chargers add other bodies at the position through free agency or the draft. If Parham projects as LA's starting tight end, he could have some excellent sleeper value at the position.
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Donald Parham Jr. (concussion) wasn't able to clear the league's concussion protocol this week and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. Parham had a scary moment in last Thursday's overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs when his helmet slammed to the turf and knocked him out. He was immobilized, carted off the field and taken to a hospital, where he stayed overnight. Parham avoided a serious neck/head injury, but he will not play this week and might also miss Week 17. With receiver Jalen Guyton on the COVID-19 list, veteran tight end Jared Cook could be in line for a few more targets this weekend in an excellent matchup against Houston. Still, Cook hasn't been a very reliable fantasy tight end and should be considered a touchdown-dependent TE2.
