Elandon Roberts Agrees With Raiders On One-Year Deal
Pittsburgh Steelers free-agent linebacker Elandon Roberts reached an agreement on Monday night with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year, $3 million contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal was negotiated by agent Drew Rosenhaus. Roberts will help replace standout linebacker Robert Spillane in 2025. The 30-year-old veteran spent the last two seasons in Pittsburgh. After 100-plus-tackle seasons with the Miami Dolphins in 2022 and the Steelers in 2023, Roberts took a step back last year with only 46 tackles (24 solo), one sack, five tackles for loss and a forced fumble in 17 regular-season games (14 starts). The former sixth-round selection (214th overall) by the New England Patriots in 2016 out of Houston played fewer than 50 percent of the defensive snaps in his final season in Pittsburgh but should have a shot a a near every-down role again in Vegas.
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts (groin) was a limited participant in Tuesday's team practice. Roberts injured his groin in last week's game after playing just 15 snaps against the Arizona Cardinals. His upgraded practice status from Monday is a good step in the right direction for the veteran. But he'll have just one more chance to practice in full before the Steelers take on the New England Patriots on Thursday night. Roberts has been a middle-of-the-pack IDP option this season behind his 80 tackles and 1.5 sacks. If he can't go, linebacker Mark Robinson should see more opportunities.
Elandon Roberts Signing Two-Year Deal With Steelers
Free-agent linebacker Elandon Roberts said he is signing an undisclosed two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. Roberts is coming off a great season for the Miami Dolphins with a career-high 107 tackles (68 solo), career-high 4.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and six QB hits in 17 regular season starts in his third year in Miami. The 28-year-old will fit an area of need for Pittsburgh in the middle of their defense heading into the 2023 campaign. Roberts was a former sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2016 out of Houston, and he spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Pats before joining the division-rival Dolphins in 2020.
ESPN's Field Yates believes the Miami Dolphins will re-sign impending free-agent linebacker Elandon Roberts this offseason. The Dolphins have a lot of work to do to improve their defense, and Roberts should be a priority to retain. The 28-year-old was a team captain and is a physical enforcer and smart blitzer. He's certainly due a raise on his current deal of $2.75 million after totaling 104 total tackles and a career-high 4.5 sacks in 2022. In his three years with the Dolphins, Roberts has 143 solo tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, seven sacks, an interception, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 47 regular season games. With better injury luck in 2023, Miami's defense should recover, especially if they re-sign Roberts.
Miami Dolphins linebacker Elandon Roberts (calf) is questionable to return to Sunday's matchup against the 49ers because of a calf injury. The 28-year-old was leading the team with 71 total tackles heading into Week 13 while also being responsible for 2.5 sacks. It will be a tough blow if Roberts misses time, so fantasy managers are hoping for a positive update.
The Miami Dolphins re-signed linebacker Elandon Roberts to a one-year, $3.25 million deal on Tuesday, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. In his second season with the Dolphins last year, Roberts tallied a career-high 83 tackles (42 solo), six tackles for loss, one interception for a touchdown, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one sack in 17 games (15 starts). The 27-year-old is known as more of a run-stopper, so he's not attractive to fantasy managers in IDP leagues since he has only 6.5 career sacks in six NFL seasons with the Dolphins and New England Patriots. Roberts was a sixth-round selection by the Pats in 2016 out of Houston.
The Miami Dolphins re-signed linebacker Elandon Roberts to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday. Miami's linebacker position has seen some change this offseason, with Kyle Van Noy being cut and Benardrick McKinney acquired in a trade, but Roberts will return to the fold in 2021. Jerome Baker and Vince Biegel will also be returning alongside Andrew Van Ginkel. Roberts finished last year fifth on the team in tackles (61) and third in tackles for loss (eight) despite playing just 39 percent of the defensive snaps last year. He has proven to be a big asset on run defense, but Roberts hasn't shown much of a feel in pass coverage. Roberts will also be trying to return from a serious right knee injury in 2021.
