Emmanuel Moseley News
Detroit Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (pectoral) has torn his pectoral muscle in practice and will be sidelined indefinitely. This marks the third consecutive season in which Moseley has suffered a major injury. After missing the final 12 games of the 2022 season due to a torn left ACL, he played only one game with the Lions last season because of a torn right ACL. During training camp, Moseley was transitioning from outside cornerback and competing with Amik Robertson and Ifeatu Melifonwu for the primary nickel cornerback spot. At 28 years old, Moseley has recorded four interceptions and 162 tackles in 46 career games, including 33 starts, with the Lions and the San Francisco 49ers. With Moseley out, players like Steven Gilmore, Khalil Dorsey, and Morice Norris Jr. will have the opportunity to step up. The Lions revamped their secondary this offseason by trading for former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis III and by selecting Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. with their top two draft picks. Detroit's struggling secondary led to many high-scoring shootouts and fantasy opportunities for Lions' skill players in 2023; if injuries continue, 2024 may follow a similar pattern.

Lions Re-Sign Emmanuel Moseley
The Detroit Lions are re-signing cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday before he can reach the free-agent market next week, according to a source. Moseley injured his ACL in his first game last season in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers, one year after he tore the other ACL in his knee. Despite the two devastating injuries in back-to-back seasons, the Lions have chose to bring him back. The 27-year-old was reportedly making good progress in his recovery from his latest knee surgery last November, but it remains to be seen if he'll be ready for the start of the 2024 season or how effective he'll be when he does return to the field. In his five seasons with the 49ers, Moseley had 128 solo tackles and four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown).

Emmanuel Moseley Tears His ACL Again
Detroit Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) tore his right ACL in the Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in his first game back from the torn left ACL he suffered in Week 5 last year, according to a source. The 27-year-old signed a one-year, $6 million deal with the Lions in free agency this spring and was one of several free-agent additions to the secondary in the offseason alongside Cameron Sutton and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who is on Injured Reserve with a pectoral injury. It's a really tough blow for Detroit's secondary and for Moseley, who has played in more than 12 games in a season just once in his career due to injuries. He will miss the rest of the 2023 season.

Emmanuel Moseley To Open Season On Active Roster
The Detroit Lions moved cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) off the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday, so he will open the 2023 regular season on the active roster and will be eligible to play in Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a source. It's good news for the 27-year-old defensive back, but it doesn't guarantee that he'll suit up in the NFL's first game next Thursday night. The University of Tennessee alum is expected to have a big role in Detroit's secondary when he's back to full health in his first year with the team. Moseley had 162 tackles (128 solo), five tackles for loss, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 33 passes defensed and a fumble recovery in his five seasons for the San Francisco 49ers.

Emmanuel Moseley Will Land On PUP List
According to Lions head coach Dan Campbell, cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) will be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list. The 27-year-old spent his first five seasons with the 49ers, totaling 162 tackles, four interceptions, and 33 passes defensed. But he appeared in only five games last season before suffering a torn ACL. Despite that, the Lions still signed him to a one-year, $6 million deal this offseason. Detroit committed to bolstering its defensive squad entering the 2023-24 campaign, so the team hopes Moseley will return soon.

Emmanuel Moseley Expected To Compete With Jerry Jacobs
Detroit Lions cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) sat out organized team activities and mandatory minicamp while rehabbing the torn ACL he suffered last fall, but when he's healthy, he's expected to compete with Jerry Jacobs for a starting job. The Lions signed Moseley to a one-year, $6 million deal in March. The 27-year-old was a former undrafted free agent, but he managed to start 33 games in five seasons for the San Francisco 49ers and became an every-down outside cornerback the last two seasons. Moseley played in just five games last year due to his knee injury, collecting 22 tackles (18 solo), one interception returned for a touchdown and five passes defensed.

Emmanuel Moseley Reaches Agreement With Lions
Former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Emmanuel Moseley reached an agreement with the Detroit Lions on Tuesday on a one-year, $6 million deal, according to a source. Moseley became a starting outside cornerback the last two years in the Bay Area, but he lasted only five games in 2022 due to a torn ACL and MCL in his knee. It remains to be seen if the 26-year-old will be ready for the 2023 season, but if he is, he should be a starter for the defensively challenged Lions. The former undrafted free agent has accumulated 162 tackles (128 solo), five tackles for loss, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 33 passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 45 career games (33 starts) for the 49ers.

49ers Will Try To Bring Emmanuel Moseley Back
ESPN's Nick Wagoner writes that the San Francisco 49ers will likely focus on re-signing cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) this offseason. He was playing like a No. 1 cornerback before he tore his left ACL in October. It won't be easy to bring him back, though, after he had five pass breakups and an interception in the first five games in 2022. If the 49ers can't re-sign him, cornerback will suddenly become a pressing need for them ahead of the 2023 season. The 26-year-old could be out until training camp this summer, which could lower his cost on the open market. The Niners defense was one of the best in the NFL yet again last year, but defending the pass was one of their weaknesses.

Emmanuel Moseley Out For The Season
An MRI exam confirmed that San Francisco 49ers cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) suffered a torn left ACL in the Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers. He'll have season-ending surgery on his knee, according to a source. The 26-year-old was using crutches after the game on Sunday and wasn't able to put any weight on his leg. In his five games played with San Francisco this year, Moseley had 21 tackles (18 solo), an interception returned for a touchdown and five passes defensed for the Niners secondary.

Emmanuel Moseley Believed To Have Torn ACL
San Francisco 49ers cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn ACL in the team's Week 5 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The 26-year-old had an excellent game before going down late in the fourth quarter. He returned an interception off Baker Mayfield for a 41-yard touchdown that gave San Francisco a 17-3 lead heading into halftime. Tests on Monday will confirm the severity of Moseley's injury, but this is likely a devastating loss for a 49ers defense that also saw Nick Bosa (groin) and Jimmie Ward (hand) exit early on Sunday.
