Emmanuel Moseley News
San Francisco 49ers cornerback Emmanuel Moseley (ankle) will miss several weeks, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Moseley suffered a high ankle sprain in the first half in the Week 13 loss to the division-rival Seattle Seahawks and never returned. It's a big loss for the Niners secondary, as the 25-year-old leads the team with 10 passes defensed, and they'll be going up against a dangerous passing attack in the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14. Moseley has also allowed a completion percentage of just 56 percent on the year and hasn't allowed a touchdown on 51 targets. The 49ers could look to their two rookies, in addition to veteran cornerback Dontae Johnson, with Moseley sidelined in the near future.
The San Francisco 49ers reached an agreement to re-sign cornerback Emmanuel Moseley to a two-year deal worth up to $10.1 million on Friday, according to a source. Moseley was slated to be a restricted free agent on March 17, so he won't have to go through the tender-offer process. There's a good chance that he'll handle one of the team's three primary cornerback jobs next season after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Moseley has worked his way into becoming one of San Fran's most reliable defensive backs in his three seasons. The 24-year-old has appeared in 32 games, including the playoffs, and has started 19 games. He finished with 47 tackles and an interception in eight games in 2020 and had 43 tackles and an interception in nine starts in 2019.
San Francisco 49ers cornerbacks Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring) and K'Waun Williams (ankle) have been ruled out for Monday's game against the Bills, creating a chasm in the team's secondary when it comes to covering the slot. Moseley has been an integral member of the 49ers Defense in 2020, starting eight games and accruing 46 tackles with eight passes defended. Williams has not suited up since Week 9 due to persistent injuries. The absence of both paves the way for Cole Beasley -- who leads the NFL in receiving yards out of the slot -- to potentially see more targets come his way. The San Francisco defense opened the year as a high-end unit, but injuries have constantly subverted them along the way, with Week 13 being no different.
