Washington Trades For Ereck Flowers

The Washington Football Team acquired offensive guard Ereck Flowers from the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday in a trade that involves a swap of late-round draft picks, according to sources. The move frees up some money for the Dolphins, while Washington receives an offensive lineman that will compete for a starting job this year. Flowers initially transitioned from tackle to guard in D.C. and was reportedly happy about the move to reunite with a coaching staff that turned his career around. A former first-round pick of the New York Giants in 2015, Flowers never lived up to expectations while in the Big Apple. He started all of the 2019 season with Washington and earned a three-year, $30 million deal with Miami in 2020. Flowers' salary cap hit is $10 million this year and increases to $11 million in 2022.

Dolphins Agree With Ereck Flowers

The Miami Dolphins agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with offensive guard Ereck Flowers on Monday. The deal includes $19.95 million in guarantees. Flowers hasn't lived up to expectations after being taken ninth overall in the 2015 draft, but the Dolphins are looking for help on their offensive line and Flowers looked better in 2019 with the Redskins. Miami will pretty much be looking to overhaul most of their offensive line and must also look to seriously upgrade their backfield heading into 2020 and beyond.

Jaguars Signing Ereck Flowers

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free-agent offensive tackle Ereck Flowers on Friday. Backup left tackle Josh Wells (groin) has been placed on Injured Reserve. He had started three games in place of left tackle Cam Robinson (knee), who tore his ACL in Week 2. Flowers was a first-round bust with the Giants and was cut after four disappointing seasons. He has allowed 180 total quarterback pressures since entering the league, by far the most of any NFL player in that span. Jaguars vice president Tom Coughlin coaches Flowers as a rookie, and offensive line coach Pat Flaherty was also on the Giants staff back in 2015.

Ereck Flowers May Still Have Starting Job

New York Giants offensive tackle Ereck Flowers is likely to lose a position after the signing of offensive tackle Nate Solder, but the Giants told Flowers he will now "compete" for the job at right tackle. Flowers at left tackle was the biggest hole for the Giants and the team filled it by making Solder the highest-paid tackle in the league. Flowers, the No. 9 overall pick in 2015, has been nothing short of a mega-bust. As it stands, he will be competing with holdovers Chad Wheeler and Adam Bisnowaty. The Giants surely are not finished addressing their line.
