The Atlanta Falcons re-signed safety Erik Harris to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Harris made 12 starts in his first year in Atlanta in 2021 before having surgery to fix a torn pectoral muscle in December. The 31-year-old finished the year with 64 tackles (46 solo), three tackles for loss, half a sack and eight passes defensed. Davis should return as an every-down starter for the Falcons in 2022. He began his NFL career in 2016 with the New Orleans Saints before spending four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. In 77 career games (42 starts), Harris has 254 tackles (195 solo), seven tackles for loss, four QB hits, half a sack, five interceptions (two for touchdowns) and 28 passes defensed.
The Atlanta Falcons signed former Las Vegas Raiders safety Erik Harris to an undisclosed one-year deal, according to a source. The 30-year-old went undrafted out of California University of Pennsylvania in 2012 and played in the Canadian Football League for three years before the New Orleans Saints signed him to a futures deal in 2016. Harris played in four games with the Saints before signing as a backup with the Raiders in 2017. He recorded 189 tackles (148 solo), 20 passes defensed, five interceptions and two defensive touchdowns in 30 starts for the Black and Silver. The Falcons have been in serious need of safety depth, with Ricardo Allen out of the picture and both Damontae Kazee and Keanu Neal likely departing as well.
