Broncos Defense Loses Essang Bassey To IR
The Denver Broncos placed rookie cornerback Essang Bassey (knee) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday after he suffered a knee injury against the Chiefs last Sunday night. Head coach Vic Fangio said Bassey would miss the rest of the year, with the injury likely to his ACL. The 22-year-old from Wake Forest had 23 tackles, one interception, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 12 games (three starts) in his first NFL season. The Broncos also lost Bryce Callahan to IR last week and A.J. Bouye to a season-ending suspension, so the Denver secondary is beyond thinned. They could get rookie Derrek Tuszka back from IR soon, but even then they'll be extremely vulnerable. Avoid the Broncos defensive unit in fantasy against Carolina in Week 14.
