Greg Olsen Set To Play Against Rams

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen (foot) and defensive lineman Bryan Mone (ankle) will be activated from Injured Reserve and are set to play in Week 16 against the division-rival Rams, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Olsen was put on IR on Nov. 23 after he suffered a planta fascia tear in his foot in Week 11. The veteran tight end will be another weapon for quarterback Russell Wilson down the stretch and into the postseason, but the 35-year-old is on his last legs and won't be a realistic fantasy starter with fantasy titles on the line. Olsen has just 23 catches on 35 targets for 224 yards and a touchdown in 10 games (eight starts) in his first year in Seattle. His return will also mean fewer targets for tight ends Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister, who had been splitting the workload in Olsen's absence.

Greg Olsen On Track To Return To Action In Week 16

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen (foot) is trending toward being active for Sunday's contest against the Rams, provided that he makes it through the week without any setbacks during practice. Olsen sustained a tear in his plantar fascia during Week 11, which seemed destined to end his 2020 season at the least. But the veteran has hit the rehab grind hard and plans to factor into plans against a strong Rams Defense in Week 16. Not having found the end zone since Week 1, while likely to be eased back into the fold alongside Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister, Olsen doesn't have much fantasy upside to close the regular season. Come the playoffs, his highest appeal should come as a punt play target at the TE spot in small-slate DFS formats.

Greg Olsen Returning To Practice

The Seattle Seahawks are opening tight end Greg Olsen's (foot) 21-day window to return to practice after being put on Injured Reserve. Olsen now has a chance to reach his goal of returning before the end of the 2020 season in what could very well be his last year in the NFL. While the 35-year-old veteran is returning to practice this week, it's still highly unlikely that he'll be active for Week 15 against the Washington Football Team. Even before Olsen's injury in Week 11 against the Cardinals, he hadn't really done much for fantasy owners, catching 23 passes (35 targets) for 224 yards and only one touchdown in 10 games in his first season in Seattle. Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister will continue to share the tight end workload until Olsen is able to return.

Greg Olsen Eyes Return To Field As Soon As Week 15

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen (foot) is not interested in his 2020 year coming to an end, as the veteran is reportedly pushing to suit up as soon as Sunday's game versus Washington despite having sustained a plantar fascia tear in his foot during Week 11. Olsen has missed the requisite three weeks after having been placed on injured reserve, and head coach Pete Carroll described Olsen as "very, very positive and upbeat" about his chances of playing either this week or the next. The current three-headed TE trio of Will Dissly, Jacob Hollister, and Colby Parkinson would take a significant step backwards in value should Olsen return to the mix. Despite the optimism that Olson has put on display, he has hauled in just one touchdown (in Week 1) all year, making him a risky fantasy asset, at best. Check back for updates as they become available.

Greg Olsen Lands On Injured Reserve

The Seattle Seahawks placed tight end Greg Olsen (foot) on Injured Reserve on Monday. The 35-year-old veteran suffered a ruptured plantar fascia in his foot in the Thursday night win over the Cardinals, most likely ending his season and possibly his career. Olsen has been in the league for 14 years and considered retirement previously after dealing with foot injuries while at the end of his tenure with the Panthers. He wasn't very fantasy relevant in 10 games this year with Seattle, catching 23 of his 35 targets for 224 yards and one touchdown. With Olsen out for most likely the rest of the year, Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister should split pass-catching duties at tight end, making it hard to predict which player will be more productive on a weekly basis.

Greg Olsen Leaves Early, Team Fears Season-Ending Injury

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen (foot) was hoping for a good performance in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday, but his night was ultimately cut short due to an injury. The Seahawks fear that Olsen ruptured the fascia in his left foot. He caught both of his targets for 20 yards on the evening, but that wasn't enough to save his early exit. Olsen has been largely underwhelming since joining the Seahawks this season, and the team fears that his year might be done with this injury. If that's the case, one of Will Dissly or Jacob Hollister would see a big uptick in value as the new starting tight end in this offense.

Greg Olsen Has A Bad Matchup In Week 8

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen had a down game in Week 7 and could be on track for another poor performance in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are allowing an average of just 5.1 fantasy points per game to the tight end position. On top of that, Olsen doesn't get an overwhelming amount of volume. He has just 22 targets on the year, which is fifth on the team, and it's less than half of what wide receivers Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalfhave seen. If Olsen can get into the end zone, he could be worth the lineup spot, but that is far from a guarantee. He's in the TE2 conversation this week.

Greg Olsen A Touchdown-Dependent TE2

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen has been in TE2 territory in each week, and nothing much should change in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals. Olsen is a solid red-zone threat every week, but he's a touchdown-dependent TE2 who hasn't scored since the season-opener against the Falcons. Outside of Week 1 against San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, the Cardinals have faced a relatively light schedule of tight ends. As the season has gone on, Olsen has developed his connection with quarterback Russell Wilson, but he caught his only target for 20 yards in the Week 5 win over Minnesota before the bye. He'll need to find the end zone again to reward his fantasy managers that take a chance on him.

Greg Olsen Has Some Upside In Week 4

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen was a decent option in Week 3, and in Week 4 he has some fantasy potential again. There have been numerous injuries to top options at the position, and that's pushing him further up the ranks in fantasy as a sleeper tight end. The Miami Dolphins are stronger at cornerback than they are at linebacker or safety, and quarterback Russell Wilson has been looking for Olsen more as they continue to build their chemistry. This week, he'll likely be a low-end option for fantasy managers in 12-team leagues, but he's a pretty safe start in leagues that are any deeper or have a premium on tight ends.

Greg Olsen Bounces Back In Week 3

Seattle Seahawks tight end Greg Olsen put up a dud in Week 2, but he bounced back with a strong performance in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys. Olsen caught five of his six targets for 61 yards. In this offense that passes the ball as much as Seattle does, it's becoming clear that he's going to be featured enough to garner fantasy relevance on a weekly basis. He'll require touchdowns to enter the truly elite members of the position, but he can provide low-end TE1 value on weeks like this with good matchups.
