J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Released By The Falcons

Atlanta Falcons tight end J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was released by the team on Tuesday as they cut their roster down to 53 players. Infamously drafted before D.K. Metcalf, Diontae Johnson, and Terry McLaurin in the 2019 NFL Draft, Arcega-Whiteside was a highly productive receiver at Stanford but never found solid footing at that position in the pros. He's since transitioned to tight end but wasn't able to make the Falcons' final 53. There's a good chance another team will take a chance on him but his days in the NFL appear to be numbered.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Inks Deal With Falcons

Former Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside has agreed to sign with the Atlanta Falcons. Arcega-Whiteside tried out for the team last week, so he evidently did well enough to get the opportunity. The former second-round pick transitioned to tight end last offseason before joining the Seattle Seahawks, but ultimately did not play a snap for the team. It's unclear whether he will play wideout or tight end this offseason, but the team's official site listed him as a wide receiver. The 26-year-old only has 16 receptions for 190 yards and one touchdown after four years in the league, so there's a low chance he's on the fantasy radar even if he does make the team's 53-man roster.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Trying Out For Falcons

Free-agent tight end J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is reportedly trying out for the Atlanta Falcons. The 26-year-old is a former second round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles from the 2019 draft. He put together three lackluster seasons at wideout before converting to tight end last season. He was traded to the Seattle Seahawks, but was cut by the organization in late August. He didn't end up playing anywhere last season, but he's still young enough to get his career back on track. It remains to be seen if the Falcons will sign Arcega-Whiteside, but regardless he's unlikely to have fantasy value.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Cut By Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks cut wide receivers J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and wide receiver Freddie Swain, quarterback Jacob Eason, running back Darwin Thompson, cornerback Justin Coleman and safety Marquise Blair on Tuesday. Arcega-Whiteside was acquired in a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles during training camp, but he obviously didn't do enough to impress the team. The 25-year-old made a brief switch to tight end before converting back to wide receiver. The former second-rounder has been a huge bust in his three seasons in the NFL with Philly, catching 16 of 35 targets for 290 yards and only one touchdown in 40 games (seven starts).

Seahawks Acquire J.J. Arcega-Whiteside From Eagles

The Seattle Seahawks are acquiring wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside from the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday in exchange for defensive back Ugo Amadi, according to a source. Arcega-Whiteside will get a fresh start in Seattle after catching only 16 passes on 35 targets for 290 yards and one touchdown in his three seasons in Philadelphia after he was a second-round selection in 2019. Amadi will give the Philadelphia secondary some experience after playing in 47 games (12 starts) over three seasons in Seattle. Arcega-Whiteside has been attempting to transition from receiver to tight end, but it remains to be seen if the Seahawks view him as more of a tight end or wide receiver. Either way, fantasy managers can continue to ignore him.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Bulks Up

Philadelphia Eagles tight end J.J. Arcega-Whiteside added 12 pounds this offseason as he transitions from wide receiver to tight end this year. The Eagles list him at 6-foot-2, 237 pounds after he was listed at 225 pounds last year. The 25-year-old was drafted as a receiver in the second round in 2019 out of Stanford, but he has barely had an impact in Philadelphia's offense in his three NFL seasons. In 40 career games (seven starts) so far in his career, Arcega-Whiteside has 16 receptions on 35 targets for 290 yards and one touchdown. It's an intriguing position switch, but Dallas Goedert is the clear tight end to roster in fantasy for the Eagles.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Moving To Tight End

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside will move to tight end. The 25-year-old hasn't been the most impactful wideout since entering the league in 2019, accumulating just 16 catches for 290 yards and one touchdown. However, he's reportedly open to the transition, and while he likely wouldn't have garnered much interest at his previous position, his draft stock may rise slightly as a potential late-round Hail Mary fantasy option.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Goes On Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside (finger), who is undergoing surgery on his finger, was placed on Injured Reserve on Monday, ending his season. Arcega-Whiteside played his most offensive snaps (57%) of the season in the Week 18 regular season finale against the Dallas Cowboys last Saturday with the Eagles resting most of their starters. He responded with no catches on a season-high three targets. In 16 games, the 25-year-old caught just two passes on five targets for 36 yards. Arcega-Whiteside has been an afterthought in the Eagles offense in his three years with the team, catching a combined 16 passes for 290 yards and one touchdown on 35 targets in 40 games.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside - Week 15 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside could have a role on offense in a Week 15 game against the Washington Football Team. Arcega-Whiteside hasn't done much this season or throughout his NFL career, but with Quez Watkins (COVID-19) expected to miss the game and Jalen Reagor (bad at football) elevated to the WR2 role at least in theory, Arcega-Whiteside might find himself on the field a little more than he's used to. That won't make him much of a fantasy option, but he's likely free on almost every league's waiver wire and makes for a possible dart throw option for the most desperate of fantasy managers.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside Makes His First Catch Of The Season

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside made his first catch of the season in a Week 11 win over the New Orleans Saints. Arcega-Whiteside was targeted once and came down with the catch for a 23-yard gain. He's been playing mostly on special teams but has made a few appearances on offense this season, however this was his first catch of the year. With former first-round pick Jalen Reagor looking like he may legitimately be the worst receiver in the National Football League, perhaps Arcega-Whiteside ends up with a little more playing time on offense. Still, that's not much of a fantasy-relevant role.
